I have a Yellow Lab female dog, She is four years old.
She has missed her heat cyles... alot.
She has only had 2 her whole life. One was when she was (oct. 1st) and she has her second one when she was three(September 1st) and she hasnt had any since. that we know of anyways...
She dint have one this fall, but she is getting fat, we brought her to the vet(cause of something else,(NOT THE PREGANT THING) and they said she could be having a false pregnies.
this was back in beggin of noveber. she has gotten a littler bigger. She hasnt got with a male so we know 98% she hasnt got mated.

The other question what else do you know about heat cyles?

I know a great deal about phantom pregnancies as I had to deal with one of my cockers having them when I didn't breed her. I too am a breeder.

First off you need to have her checked as to why she is missing her heat cycles. There is some underlying issue going on that needs to be dealt with. My one question is are you sure it's not a real pregnancy as you said you are 98% sure she hasn't mated? How did you come to this conclusion? You either know she tied 100% or you don't. If you are a faithful breeder, especially of AKC dogs you should ALWAYS know if your dog was mated. AKC requires it in fact....they want to know when/what time/with who/who witnessed it; etc. Do you only have one male? Is she secured indoors or in a SECURE kennel. If not how will you know who the sire is if she IS pregnant; some smaller breed could've mated with her if she was outdoors; left and you wouldn't have been any wiser and may have mixed breed pups and if you try to register them and someone requests DNA testing AKC WILL jerk the registrations off of your dogs and all pups that that dog has had.

I'm not really sure what the question is but I know that even though you don't want to hear it she needs to be spayed if you don' t want to deal with the false pregnancies because once they have them they are usually going to keep having them. All the way from just getting bigger to actually producing milk.

She needs to be SPAYED!!!!! This will stop all the guessing and she should not reproduce anyway as these problems could just be the tip of the iceberg....and she can pass reproductive problems on to her puppies.
She is also at an increased risk of pyometria, in which her uterus fills with pus and she has to have emergency surgery. Save her all the problems and get her fixed!!

Yeah..you are a GREAT breeder to be sure! NOT!!! Know how I can tell?????? "she hasnt got with a male"...."she hasnt got mated"...."pregnies". YOU ARE CLUELESS!!!!! You even want to know MORE about heat cycles!!!! REAL breeders DO NOT talk like you do...they use correct terminology so they don't look bad!!!

the false pregnies the head is telling the body she is pg. she will act like she is Pg. she can also have milk. But there are no puppies. If she does this again i would think about spaying her. There are a few females that only have one season a year

I had a German Shepard that had false pregnant signs. She even lactated a little. After checking with the vet I would just watch her. She never became pregnant during the years that I owned her.

Your dog has underlying problems and needs to be spayed. Your vet should have told you this. You will cause her great danger and possibly death to her and any future pups. I know this isn't what you want to hear but its the truth. Spay her asap.
