Well i have 2 puppies and an older dog. The older dog gets along with them but i think he thinks they're female. He sniffs their private area or butt area and follows them everywhere

The older dog was spayed

That's natural for dogs. The butt-sniffing is just a way of determining the health, attitude, and last lunch of the sniffee. I would only worry about the following if it seems aggressive or unwanted.

He may even pee over where they have eliminated, if he's feeling dominant. If he is not neutered, it might be best to consider doing so. Even an older dog can benefit from the lower risk of cancers and calmer hormones.

I wouldn't worry about it.

This is normal behavior. Haven't you ever noticed that whenever two dogs meet, they smell each other's behinds? It sounds like your older dog either likes the puppies, or is very curious about them, or both. It sounds like he's trying to look after them. I don't see any problem here.

By the way, if the older dog is a male, he wasn't spayed. He was castrated/neutered.

thats normal dog behavior, they may even hump each other dogs do this to display strength and dominence.Dogs sniffing each others butts and sniffing privates is there way of greeting each other dogs do it all the time.It may seem weird bit you will get used to it. Check out a book from the library on dog behavior.

That's the way the older dog know how old are the pups, look it up is a common practice between dogs.

That's how dogs identify each other, through smell. It's normal. He probably follows them everywhere because he's curious.

The older dog is probably intrigued at them. He wants them to interact with him and he is just being friendly.

Are the puppies new to the household? If so, he's probably just getting used to them. It's his way of learning about them.

If they aren't new, he probaby knows they aren't female, he may just be one of those who likes to sniff!! He should quit eventually...
