I loved this dog too much and it always seemed there would come a day, like today. He is a Lhasa Apso. I love him and now he is gone. What do I do?

My heart goes out to you. Grieve as long as you need to. Give Ben an honorable burial. When you're ready, take on another who will become your next Best Friend. Love and cherish Ben's memory and beware self-fulfilling prophecies. I wish you all the best.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It happened to me.
I'd adopted this little stray while a friend was staying with me. I was coming home from work one after noon and didn't realize my friend had let the pup out in the unfenced front yard and then had to go back in - just for a second. The pup heard my truck coming and, having developed no fear of moving vehicles yet, he apparently ran to meet me. All I saw was what I thought was a wind blown leaf comeing toward my truck, then I felt a bump and begain to be afraid. As soon as I parked the truck in the drive way I saw the tiny body in the road and knew what had happened.
This was several years ago and I'm still getting misty sharing it with you. I've had several dogs since.
You will always remember your friend as I do mine but you must move on. Greave, cry, maybe build a small memorial then just go on.
Your friend has gone on, now you must as well. Life never stops.
Good luck.

I'm so sorry for your lost,I know the pain when you lose a love one.Just know that Ben didn't suffer and he's in doggie Heaven now. When your ready for a new pet go to your local animal shelter and give an animal a second chance at life.I'm sure Ben will be smiling down at at you or wagging his tail and you could make a donation in his memory also.

I am sorry that this happened. It is hard to get over but you need to move on try getting another dog, it will not take his place but could become another best friend.
keep pictures of Ben around the house. You could name the new dog in honor of Ben. This is just an idea, but it might help.

I had something similar happen, but mine got out in the street. I had only had her a year, but I loved her so much. I went out the next day and got the same kind of dog. I still mourned and it took me awhile to get over the loss of her, but the new dog definitely helped to dry my eyes more quickly and gave me something to do vs. coming home to an empty house. I now have 2 dogs, just got a companion a few months ago. And I have pics of my lost one in my home. The 2 I have now do things that remind me of her daily. Look up the rainbow bridge poem. I have that posted with a pic of my precious one attached to it. I hope you mend soon.

I'm so sorry that u accidently ran over ur best friend....and yes u will feel guilt ridden for a very long time... but remember it was an accident...and unfortunately in our crazy fast paced lives these things sometimes happens, but remember it was just that.. an accident. Take some time to reminise with your memories, and heal. Perhaps one day you'll be able to get yourself a new pet, and just learn to slow down, and enjoy. Take care

That is very unfortunate I think the first thing you should do is tell your friend what happened and since you did run the dog over, you should help him with the expenses.

Talk about it with friends, maybe even a counselor. I'm sure you have pictures, so make a memorial to your pet. Sorry for your loss.
