My husband and I are looking to complete our family with a puppy, but are having trouble finding one. We need one that is a non allergine breed and one that won't cost us anything. We are buying our first home and have to move so money is tight. Can anyone please help us? Here are the type of breeds mixed or full...Maltese, poodle(toy), yorkie, cockapoo..etc Thank you!

Our shelter here is terrible and mainly have chihuahuas. Its not that we can't affor a puppy its the fact we can't afford $800 up front for what we want.

For all of you who think this is just some type of I want situation you are all wrong. We have been looking for a puppy for the past 3 months and have came up empty handed. I have already spent money on buying a puppy and never recieved it from the breeder. Its not that we don't have money to do it again, but we just put a big chunk down on our new house. I have 2 beautiful Kids so I know things cost money. We are not rich and we are not poor. We are middle class working people who get by just fine. We just want our kids to grow up and have respect for animals the way we do. Many of you jumped to conclusions and assumed wrong. No wonder our society is so messed up. I was here looking for a helping hand and most of you just pushed it away. Thank you for all your thoughts though.

Try talking to your local vet and see if they have any clients with pregnant dogs and ask if they would consider giving them away to a good home.
The problem is, most people want to know that this isn't just an impulse buy, that you actually do want this puppy, and will thus charge you for it. Any one who is irresponsible enough to not interview you at the very least is probably not taking good care of their own dog.
I'd say save up some money and keep an eye on your local shelters. Eventually, a puppy will come through their doors that is perfect for you. Don't rush and get something just because it's free or available. If you want your family to be complete, find the perfect puppy for you. And that might take time.
Good luck! I hope you find the perfect dog!

Just like everybody else said, you probably shouldn't get a puppy right now. The breeds you are looking at are fairly expensive to begin with, be it from a breeder or just a local pet shop, not to mention the initial cost of supplies and all the puppy shots. It is very unlikely that you will be able to find a purebred puppy like those listed in a shelter, but it is possible. Now, if you were willing to pay money for a puppy, you might want to wait till after the holidays, because many breeders I have spoken to will not sell puppies for fear that someone only wants them as a present and it might ultimately be abandoned. You and your husband need to get settled down like someone else said, wait till after the holidays, save some money because dogs are quite a bit of work when they are small and do cost money, and research exactly which breed you want. All breeds have different pro's and con's, personalities, etc. that could be a factor in your decision.
Once you feel ready to get one, and you are looking for a hypoallergenic breed that has a wonderful personality, you should also look into a bichon frise. I found mine from a reputable breeder and saved money! Just research and call around.

If you are in the process of buying a house and money is tight I would suggest not getting a puppy free or not for Christmas. Dogs are expensive and do get sick and that can be very expensive. When we got out dog it was from a shelter and him including the basics we needed for him (toys, food, dog dish, crate ect) it ended up costing about $500 or more. Then a few months after we had him, he needed a surgery which after all the vet visits, supplies, medication ect cost about another $1000. Now I do have an X-large breed and that does not help with cost but over all I would suggest to wait until after the holidays and you have settled into your home and your bank accounts aren’t hurting as much (buying a house also has its unexpected costs that can be very expensive). So maybe wait and fill out your family for Valentine’s Day or Easter. Best of Luck!

Here we go again, another person who wants a puppy but doesn't want to spend any money. When are you people going to get it through your thick heads that dogs cost money? This like saying, "I want to have a baby, but I don't want to spend any money...." Give me a break!
I also have doubts about you bringing a puppy into your new home, and bringing the puppy in at Christmas. I fear the puppy would be dumped by you within a matter of months. The circumstances you are wanting to bring the puppy into are not good: not wanting to spend money, having a NEW home, and the fact that it is the holiday season. I have seen it all before....
If you really want a puppy, save up some money, get settled into your house, and then go to the shelter after the holidays and rescue one of the pups that some other idiot dumped.

Christmas is the worst time to get a new puppy. There's just way too much going on over the holiday. Getting a new puppy immediately after getting a new home is probably the second worst time. Give yourself some time to get over the holidays, the move, the new budget, etc. If you want a present to leave under the tree, have all of the dog gear ready and make a gift certificate for a future dog.

Poodles are great dogs and very intelligent. Try a poodle rescue. They are such a popular breed I am sure there are a lot of poodles available in rescue. You might also consider getting an older dog. They are just as sweet and wonderful as any puppy and often have already been house trained.

Why don't you wait until you have the money to get a dog?
If you don't have the money to pay for one now what are you going to do if the dog gets sick and have to go t a vet and you don't have the money for that?Do you know what it cost to care for a puppy? Do you have kids? Do you have time to work with the puppy? A new puppy is like a baby needs a lot of love and care. What untill you have the money to get a dog.

Your best bet would be to go to a shelter and adopt one or find a friend with puppies to get rid of.
There is no such thing as a non-allergy breed, but there are some that produce less dander and don't shed. Those breeds would be your best bet. I know because I have allergies and was considering a dog but decided to go with a cat instead.

ALL dogs cost alot of money. You can adopt from a rescue or a shelter but even they sometimes have large fees not to mention that dogs cost ALOT in food, toys, dishes, collars, grooming, vet bills, etc. If you don't have the money to properly care for a dog then I would recommend waiting to get one. They do statistics all the time about how much owning a dog costs yearly. You should google it.

Puggles are great dogs. just got a 7 week old puggle but he was 600.00. After doing research on all the breeds you listed, you are going to have a Super hard time finding these breeds in the local SPCA. They are all in high demand and cost anywhere from 500.00-1,000.00 per puppy.
An excellent site to use is puppyfind.com It gives feed back on the breeders and shows pictures of the puppies. This site list all the puppies available all over the US.
Good luck.
