We've had her for a year, so missed the puppy year. We've rubbed food on a ball and she likes food, but she won't play. She chased a mouse once. We'd love for her to play. She won't get sticks either or show any interest in anything we throw, roll, bounce or drop. She can catch food though.

I'm just wondering if its safe to give a 6 month old 1/2 Italian greyhound-1/2 rat terrier puppy Gas-X. We don't purposely feed him people food but he sometimes manages to help himself to a stray bit of food here and there and he'll eat anything, including rocks and bugs. He has some nasty gas at times and I was thinking some Gas-X might help. Any advice?

I just adopted a Schnoodle from a family. This dog is the best dog we've ever had. I don't consider him a "mutt!" He's sweet, smart, loving & great w/ my three kids. I would love to get another one. As far as breeding them, I feel that so called "Professional Breeders" don't like other's breeding them, that's why they sell them fixed, so they won't have competition. I would like to breed my male schnoodle w/ a female to be able to give the puppies to family & friends. Not everyone wants money, but if I did, it's a "free" world. If I found after the first litter that I could give or sell them, I would keep the few left and fix the dogs. But, having a Schnoodle, I guarantee it wouldn't be a problem getting rid of the pups.

I just got her Sunday from the shelter. She is 5 months and was born there. I had most of the lights off and was in the kitchen. I have a hard wood floor so I can hear her trotting behind me. I hid around the corner and as she came around I said

"RARRRRRRR!"

She FREAKED out! Ran really fast, crying into the next room. And then from the other room started barking. Then I called her and told her it was ok. She looked and looked to make sure that it was me. Then came to me. Is that ok? Or was that wrong? Could I damage her or make her aggressive by doing so? I thought it was a good idea at the time. Now I feel kinda bad. Should I?

My Basset, who is one year old, has the worst separation anxiety of any dog ever. She cries so much when I am gone that she makes herself sick and throws up. She stays by me always (which I dont mind) But when I leave for work, she cries ALL the time and it gets annoying even when I am home from work. I dont want to give her away, but my neighbors call the cops because my dog cries too loud when I leave. She gets walked every evening and plenty of food and play toys to occupy her time. She is not spoiled and doesnt have dominance issues with us. She has recently started chewing things up when I leave... that is uncommon for her. She only does it when I am away.. I have lost over 2k in crown molding, dvds and replacing doors, shoes and more.. She even cries all the time I am home. She doesnt get tired of it but it wares out my nerves!

PLEASE HELP! I DONT WANT TO GIVE HER UP!

My german mittel spitz is a very picky eater. I try very hard to discipline him when it comes to eating his dog food (although he tolerates his vitamins and healthy biscuits). Sometimes he will go on a hunger strike for DAYS -& course I eventually give in to that by giving him human food which is all he will eat these days. I was feeding him Eukaneba.. and after doing my research with dog food.. I realized that it may not be the best brand! I've been hearing some negative reviews with the brand and other brands such as Purina..Science Diet.. etc.. basically the ingredients are crap. As of now, I believe I am feeding him as healthy as I can. I feed him organic chicken with brown rice and broth, veggies/fruits, and I make sure he has suppliments and vitamins everyday. Vet says hes in great shape. I know that even If I feed him well as of now, I might be missing nutrients. I need to find a exceptional brand! Ive been looking at Red Barn, Canidae,& Wellness, any news of this? Suggestions?

I would like to buy a small family dog. The mini Daschund or Beagle, I feel, would be ideal for our family. I don't want to go to a pet store, I prefer a kennel. I live on Staten Island. Can anyone recommend kennels in the NJ and PA areas?
