I have 2 new pups both born in the shelter just got them Sunday. I left them home for the first time today.

Puppy #1 is 5 mos. female said to be shepherd/hound mix: I put her in the garage while I was at work because I can't trust her in the house. I need help with these problems with her

1) wants to chew EVERYTHING! She has chew toys. I do the whole 'NO!' take item away and give her a chew toy. But, still...she is so busy. I'm constantly running after her. The house is puppy proofed. But, she is bigger so she can prop herself up and grab things from shelves and counters. She has me almost in tears lol
2) I came home during lunch to let her out for a few minutes and check on her. She has very bad seperation anxiety. Crying and freaking out when I got here. She jumped up and pee'd on me. She is rather big, so this is a problem. Especially on a lunch break!

Puppy #2- is 9 wks old. Male said to be pug/terrier. Mom was at the shelter and WAS terrier. But, I'm not sure that he has any pug...not that I can see anyway.

Here's my BIG worry:
I don't have a crate. So, I put him in the tub with a bowl of water, chew toy, and a towel to lay on. BAD mistake. When I came home during lunch to check on him the tub was covered in poop that he had smeared all over the place and all over him. Mind you...I was on lunch break! I took pup out cleaned him off the best I could without bathing...I didn't have time. At that point I didn't know what to do with him! I couldn't put him back in the tub. I couldn't leave him to run around the house and chew everything up. So, I put him in the garage with big pup. He was fine when I got home. But, still...I can't have him out there. He only has his first 2 sets of shots and we live on a farm. One of my kids is a huge animal lover so she is constantly bringing stray animals home. We have a stray dog and 2 stray cats that have claimed the outside and garage as their home. (I made sure to get them out before I put pups in there) But, I am afraid that he'll get sick from their germs. And now I am worried about a crate after the big mess today. Please tell me what to do. Also, same thing with little pup about the separation anxiety crying and freaking out, running after me. And both pups were upset about being apart from each other.

I really don't know what to do! I am piled high in puppy poop and pee and they are destroying my house lol. I need some advice on how to get my pups to calm down just a little lol. HELP!!!!!!!

My 14 y.o. dog is suffering from "doggie dementia" . The latest manifestation of this has deprived me of a good nights sleep 2 nights in a row. She sleeps then she has then sudden starts and jumps up and looks around or stares into space. Then after a minute or so, she gets all nervous/restless trying to find a comfortable spot on the bed....usually near my head or on top of it. Putting her in another room is not an option - she will bark and scratch and otherwise be more miserable. I talked to my vet today and he suggested giving her 40 mg. of Benadryl. (She weighs 43 lbs.) He actually said the pills come in 25 and 50 mg. and that it was safe to give her 50 mg. I have Benadryl that I can give her but I'm terrified to do so....it just sounds weird to me. Also, is 1 capsule of benadryl = to 25 mg? I have 3 pills but I don't have the original box. Anybody know? Please weigh in people. I really need to sleep well tonight but I don't want to unwittingly harm my dog. Thanks.

I know that everyone says that you shouldn't buy puppies from pet stores for a variety of really good reasons. But my question is - don't those dogs deserve a loving home also? If no one buys them - what happens to them?

I have a 2 1/2 year-old dog, and she has fleas. I've recently run out of dog flea spray, and she's scratching like crazy tonight. I have a bottle of "Hartz Flea & Tick Repellent for Cats" and I was wondering if that was safe to spray on a dog.

Ok so its time for me to get a dog, and I want a Yorkie and I have been looking on the internet at the cost, and they range from $300 to $2000, I was wondering if there was a place to get them cheap. Like $150 cheap. Or is there any other dogs that are as small as yorkies when they are full grown? Nothing bigger then 15 lbs.

My GF got a new dog but it didn't like me at all, earlier today she suggested we get to know each other better so we could get along. She made me take it out a walk. Thing is when we were out I accidentially put the dog in a sack and dropped it in the river. I don't know what to tell my GF when I am meant to take it back. If was thinking of saying "What dog"? as she isn't too bright and I think I could convince her it just like the frienhds she makes up in her head, unfortunately she has a photo on her cell phone of the cursed animal. What should I do? Will I tell it it got run over and I had to choke it to put it out of it's miserey?

I am looking for a breed that will be able to fit my lifestyle. I work from home and would like more of a companion type of dog (pref small toybreed), although I live in a semi large home where I could provide great excercise with my dog, I like the small cuddly types! I would prefer the dog to tolerate existing animals as well. I've been discovering more and more new "designer dogs" on the internet a.k.a mutts :) lol I guess It's nice to have the best of both worlds in a dog! I am definitley open to adopting from a local shelter. I have already adopted 2. But, I am just curious to hear what people have to say about these "new" popular hybrid types and which would fit best in my lifestyle! Thank you MUCH!!!
(Please no stupid, ignorant answers!!)

I was just wondering what I might expect to pay a quality breeder for a shiba inu puppy. It would be as a pet, not for breeding or (probably) show.

Ok - my mom got a little yorkie after my dad died, then had a hard time training it. I took it in and trained it. We decided it would be a great set up to share the little puppy. She spent a few weeks at my place and few at my mom's. Lately she has been spending more and more time with my husband and me at our new house - we seem to have her for 3 or 4 months at a time then to my mom's for a few weeks. My mom is starting to feel lonely and wants her back for a while. My husband is very attached to the dog and says he doesn't want to share her anymore. If she goes back she stays back. He is a very loving, compassionate man and I don't really understand why he is so upset. He claims he thought my mom had given the dog to us for good (I am not sure where he got that idea). He is very attached to her.

Any suggestions as to how I can keep everyone happy?

she says the dogs never been any good, its bitten most of the family, and the cost of the injection would be a waste of money. i still love the dog......its never bit me once..............should i let it go in a field near where i live and let god decide its fate or should i keep it in our cellar and not tell the wife ?

I have a 70 lb mutt who is EXTRA freindly. When we come into the house she jumps and will almost knock you over in attempt to lick your face. This is especially bad when we have visitors. When we sit on the couch, she climbs and stomps on you. She is a pretty big girl, and having her climb on you like a goat can hurt. We have tried gently pushing her away, crate training, squirt bottles, rocks in a little plastic bottle, clickers... you name it. Other than this licking business, she is perfectly trained. I realize this is probably a dominance issue, but I need some help on how to correct it. I am not a big fan of choke collars and electric collars, but I am 6 months pregnant and this really needs to stop. Help us PLEASE!
