Last night my dog kept me up half the night wanting outside- I'd take him out and all he'd do is stand and stare accross the street into the woods. I thought maybe there was a stray dog somewhere off in that direction barking that he could hear. Today, though, he keeps whining. Not like he's hurt or anything- just bored or anxious whining.. What's up with him?

Can anyone give me any information about either of these breeds, and does any one know if either can adapt to being left in the day time?

My 8 month old cav king charles dog is always following me around. He will not leave anyone alone, he always wants attention and even if one of us goes out of the house for even a few minutes, he barks like anything and goes mad when we come back. He always wants to sit on someones lap and we just get really irritated, in other words, he is too clingy, is there anything i can do to get him to stop. Please

At a few pet supply stores they are selling "doggie car seats" for small dogs. They are like a carrier for your small dog but they attatch to your seat so as to keep your dog safe while driving in the car. In case of an accident or such so that your dog or puppy doesnt go flying through the wind shield or so that your dog isnt distracting you while you drive. I have been reading up ALOT on taking care and training a puppy because we are getting one on Saturday and most say to keep your dog in a crate or carrier in the car to keep him safe while driving, but some people are giving me troubles when I say I want to get this "doggie car seat" for our puppy. Now I know my dog is not a baby but I still dont want anything to happen to her in case of an accident or sudden stop. It doesnt strap the pup in like a kid it is just like a carrier and very comfortable for the pup. What is your opinion please?

On friday the stray beagle dog that we have taken in had a litter of 6 very healthy very cute fleas. However because she was pregnant we were afraid to put any flea medicine on her because we did not know if it would poison her babies. However Now the puppies are begining to get fleas and I still dont wont to make puppies sick. I need a CHEAP but affective way to get rid of her fleas so the puppies dont suffer from them.

I have an all herbal mixture that is suppose to keep the fleas off its called PENNYROYAL although Im not sure if we can use it on mom. The instructions say you can sprinkle the herbs around the bedding of pups or you can make it like a tea and wipe the dog down has anyone used this before and would it be safe for puppies.

Or is there a web site that I can look this information up????

I purchased my yellow labrador from the pound about 2 weeks ago. For some reason, he is scared to go up or down the steps. He refuses and gets alot of anxiety when we near them. I am assuming he was thrown down them or hurt by them in the past. Do you have any ideas on how to rid him of the fear?

Ok I have another question concerning my boxer. This one is about training. We have been sticking what I consider good to his training. He does all of his basic commands, he sits and stays before he gets his food and before he goes after his ball, etc. but when people come over he goes into hyper mode. He does not sit and stay. and he wants to jump all over them. He is a 68lb 2yr old dog. (rescue by the way) Last night he got so excited when he jumped up he knocked over my one year old and scratched his face on the way down. Now I know that it was not intentional but there is a line that has to be drawn between animal and child. And when he gets so hyper and won't listen knocking down kids, he is right on that line. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to help him calm down when people come over? He just wants to be all up in their laps.
Here's what I have tried: Sit and Stay, a leash, his kennel. (he whines really bad)
Here is what I plan to try: A pig ear (as a distraction)

Anyone have one? Do they work good? For anyone who doesn't know what they are....Inground system to toss dog poo in instead of bagging it and throwing it in the trash.

I love our Boxer, Judge, but his separation anxiety makes me want to pull my hair out at times. All I have to do is just pick up my car keys and walk into the garage, and he will have already done his doodie on the living room floor. He mainly stays outside because of this and he's not ever left alone inside while we're gone (didn't take us long to figure this out). If he's separated from us, he freaks out. The whining, the chewing, the scratching and the oopses on the carpet can get out of hand. He has to know what we're doing all the time, and there's no telling what he does in the backyard when we leave the house. Any advice?

Our dog gets UTI's all the time and pees in the same spot on the carpet (cement slab under the carpeting). I saw the Pet PeePee van and did not know if anyone had experience with them.

My 6 1/2 week old puppy was not playful at all yesterday, nor did he make any sounds. All he did was sleep all day except for at some times he was looking like he was trying to poop but with no luck. I gave him a few drops of mineral oil to help him out. I also scrambled an egg and gave him a few cc's (raw of course) and made some warm soapy water and squirted a cc into the poor little guys behind. He acted a little better this morning although I didn't find any poop. Will he be okay? Did I do the right thing?
