Ok first of all to all of you who keep telling me there is too many homeless animals and i shouldnt breed him. you don't know my intentions. first he was ADOPTED. he was homeless. and i only want to breed him, in order to give my dad another hunting buddy. my dad's dog recently died. she was 13 yrs old. so before you all get judgemental, maybe i should tell you the facts.

Ok well i didn't ask for all your opinions of the morals of if I should or shouldn't breed my dog. I simply asked how old he should be. And In my area, beagles are not a dime a dozen. And he was adopted from a animal hospital. And it was MY choice not to neuter him. So I thank you all who answered the question I asked, which was how old should he be. The rest of you can go and shove your self rightous crap at someone else.

Its not your job to be a hero, so don't let other people bug you about adopting. Besides, what about them? There are TONS of homeless children that need to be adopted. To all you people that complain about adopting animals, go adopt some poor kids instead of reproducing yourselves.

In any case, you should wait until he's about 1yr. at least when his sperm count is up. That way you will not waste anyone's time.

Beagles are prolific breeders. What is your intention with the possibly 10 or so other pups. Will your dad take all of those as well. Buy one for him, leave the breeding up to those who know how. If you have to ask what age to breed a dog you don't know enough to do so properly. By the way Monika, I have two adopted children. I practice what I preach.

Well you rescued him what about the rest you could rescue?? Beagles are a dime a dozen!! Your pup is a rescue its just a mongrell mutt it is the last of the lot that needs to breed.

You need to contact the "rescue" you got him from. I am hoping it was a real rescue and nuetered him before you got him. I have everything altered at 6 weeks of age. Specifically because dumb people adopt them and then want to breed the mutt. I make sure in advance that isn't going to happen!! I hope you were working with a reputable rescue!!

If you only want a dog for your dad, why don't you buy or adopt one instead of studding your dog, which can lead to problems down the road. Dogs that aren't fixed have more health problems, die younger, and are more prone to aggressive behavior.

Good God!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The world is FULL of Beagles!!! Unless it is a champion with health clearances....NEUTER it!

HOLY CRAP!!!! You are breeding an animal that you don't even know the parentage of?????????? That is WRONG!!!!!

You know, for the price of raising a litter, you can BUY a Beagle puppy or RESCUE another one for him!!!!!! Jeez!! Use your head a little!!!!!!
You don't breed animals that you have no history on!!! You aren't planning on doing any health clearances, or registering the litter, so DON'T MAKE MORE CRAP that someone else will have to rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the statement that he shouldn't breed as their are thousands and thousands of beagles-dogs-pups-cats and kitties in shelters, rescues and that have been abandoned. If you want more beagles I suggest that you adopt. Spare the dogs in question any trauma and have it fixed.

Please take Paintedrain 2's advice. They are absolutely right. I have already seen a number of beagles in rescues. I work in rescue, and there are far too many dogs in pounds and rescues.

DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE.

In the state of Maryland alone, there are over 1,000 homeless beagles in shelters. Most of them will die. How many more do you want to contribute to that?

2 yrs old. Please don't breed though, there are MANY Beagles, that end up in shelters/rescues, due to people buying them without knowledge of the breed.

First, I commend you on adopting yoru puppy...so why not do the same thing for your dad? If you get him a puppy now, they can grow up and play together. Wouldn't that be great?
