geeez people get a grip! he is not the cure all for all of your dogs problems.....proper training is and to actually take the time to train your dog. going to a obedience class helps teach you to train your dog but it doesn't end there! it is a continuous thing everyday!! all I have seen lately is "my dog whines" or he "poops and pees in the house" and on and on....a pet isn't a picture on a wall that you look at once in a while when you have the time...it is a responsibility...that is up to you as the owner to take care of and turn your little puppy into a well mannered and loved member of your family...there is no such thing as an easy answer it takes your time and a heck of a lot of patience to have that wonderful dog!

I just wondered who all owns Dachshunds out there and don't you think they are the most adorable things in the whole world? Do they sleep with you under the covers at night? Does yours grunt if things dont go his way? Does it have 10,000 squeaky toys? Tell me about your weenie dogs.

Ok i heard that they want to be king of the couch, and that they love kids and are VERY stubborn. Is there anyway i can stop the bad behaviors before they start? He is 7 weeks old and has plenty of toys, but prefers to chew on anything else but his toys. This is bad, hes chewing on sides of furnature, cables..cords, the rug, himself, his leash.. anything but his toys. Ive tried telling him no.. when he chews and giving him his toy to chew and he chews on his rope for a little while and then goes back to chewing what was chewing on before. Please help. This puppy has alot of issues.

Being the complete moroon that I am I let my husband adopt a beautiful doberman puppy from a breeder. She is sweet and wonderful. She is now a bit over 2 years old and this june when she goes into to heat we have to breed her according to the contract he signed (with out consulting with me this is where the morron part steps in). I am so scared! I am not per say an Animal person although I do love our pup. I have no idea how to deal with a bunch of puppies for 8 weeks. What do I do when she is giving birth? How do I take care of them? What do you feed them? Can I let them go outside at all? Is Ava (our doggie) Going to be super over protective? We have three kids and I dont want them to hurt the pups or get hurt if Ava snaps at them (which she has NEVER done) Will Ava's personality change after becoming a mommy? We have the opion of keeping one of the pups will it be easier for Ava to let go of all of them if we keep one around? Thanks for the advice in advance...

I have 2 dogs, a male and female (both fixed) and I have a nice plush green lawn with several circular dead patches where the pups do their thing.

- Is there something I could feed the dogs that will make their pee more grass-friendly?
- Is there something I could feed my grass that will make it more dog-resistant?
- Other ideas?

I'm glad they are at least doing their stuff outside, but I like my green grass too.

Extra info: Dogs - Std Poodle (F), Soft-coated Wheaten (M)
Grass - Bonzai somethin' or other.

My friend will soon give me her female Pembroke Welsh Corgi because she already has a male and can no longer care for both due to personal reasons. My friend actually just rescued her, about a week ago. She is 6 mos. old., and seems like she's been abused by her prev. owner because she's not as outgoing as the male and is easily nervous. Right now she's only attached to my friend, has a tendency to bark alot and sometimes she has fits...My friend told me she growled and attempted to bite her little brother and her also. I just wanted some advice on how I can tame her barking and her fits, how I can help her adjust to her new home with me, how I can house break her and what type of toys I should give her. Also, she hasn't been spayed. I do plan on getting her spayed, I just wanted to know also that once she is spayed, will she not go in heat anymore? I have never had a dog before so I'm still learning. Thanks for your help!

Winter is coming upon us and during the days our dogs stay outside while we are out work. They have complete access to our garage for those cold/rainy and/or snowy days but I would like to put some sort of heater in our garage to keep them a little warmer on really cold snowy days and am not sure if there is a safe hearter that can be ran all day on low to keep my pups warm. I have tried to give them a blanket to keep of the concrete and they just detroy it so I need something they can't reach to keep them warm. Any suggestions?

This only occurs at night. once i bring her in it gets better. i had her to the vet they just gave me an inflammatory for her for redness told me i might need to take her to an opthalmologist. was just curious what the symptoms are and if this could be it. i thot maybe it cud be allergies.

I suffer from alergies, so i would need a dog that doesn't shed much.

Also, do you know of any sellers of either breed in Ireland?

Why is it that when people visit they seem to think it's funny to try and get my german shepherd to misbehave, they get him all excited and he turns into a 110 lb wrecking ball, they play with him and get him to mouth them(he is 99% trained but that 1% could always turn, I am affraid he will bite them, he is not allowed to mouth ANYONE, and they know this) then I have to correct him and put him in sit & stay until he calms down, I know this is not fair to the dog, they seem to question my controll over my dog, bring him sandwiches, feed him their food from the table (another no-no) then get upset when I correct him or ask them not to do these things the dogs not the problem, the visitors are, I have asked my sister not to bring her husband here anymore (he is the main problem) yet she contuines to do so, I have explained that a dog of this size and nature must be under controll at all times. they have 6 dogs of which none are trained, I just need a nice way to say stop it.

We just got a red rott pup the other day. I think that they are beautiful. Does anyone own one and any information about them? i don't care about them not being AKC aprroved, I'm not trying to breed her. And I don't want her to be a show dog. I just want info about them besides talking bad about them, just because they have a red coat.
