most dogs get out of the playful stage as they get older.just like humans, they dont feel as well when they are old. they can have back problems, arthritis, etc. just like people do. if it is suddenly acting differently than usual it may have a health problem and need to see the vet. if its behavior hasnt changed i wouldnt worry. just talk to it and give it lots of love and attention for the remainder of its life so it will be happy and comfortable.

When dogs get old, they tend to stop playing because they get tired pretty easily. That may also depend on their personalities too. Some may stop playing and others stays playful.

He's old that's why. I doubt if he's thinking about playing with you when he has creaky bones. Give the dog a break. He needs to be cuddled instead.
