I suffer from alergies, so i would need a dog that doesn't shed much.

Also, do you know of any sellers of either breed in Ireland?

Beagles are usually short hair dogs, but that doesn't keep them from shedding. of course the better you are about taking care of them the less problems you'll have with shedding. Also Beagles can be difficult to train for the first year and a half or so and they are very easily distracted...they're hound dogs and they like nothing better than sniffing around outside and chasing birds, rabbits, and squirrels..and howling...did I mention howling? Well plan on lots of howling. Now for the good part. Beagles are the MOST affectionate breed I've ever come accross. extremely loyal and playful, they are genuinely FUN dogs to have. once you make it through that first year and a half you have a dog your friends will be envious of. They have wonderful temperments and are terrific with kids. They aren't too big or too small they are right in the middle. They are definately good for your health because they keep you very active..And they are really attractive animals. Beagles are the kind of dogs that never lose their baby-faces and look like puppies even when they are adults.
I hope this helps you, and if you decide to go with a beagle, I hope you have a wonderful experience with them. They're a lot of work, but in the end they are DEFINATELY worth it.

Beagles shed & are no where NEAR hypoallergenic. A list of some low-allergy triggering breeds: http://www.akc.org/news/index.cfm?article_id=2588

Since there are many terriers, you should have no problem finding breeders in Ireland. Ask a local vet what is the most respected national kennel club & look for breeders on their website - and the vet may even recommend clients of his/hers that are reputable breeders.

We have raised bichons and they do not shed. Our friends with allergies are very glad to play with a dog that they are not allergic to.
As far as breeders in Ireland - check out the internet. Don't forget to look for bichon 'rescues' - they need loving homes!
