Winter is coming upon us and during the days our dogs stay outside while we are out work. They have complete access to our garage for those cold/rainy and/or snowy days but I would like to put some sort of heater in our garage to keep them a little warmer on really cold snowy days and am not sure if there is a safe hearter that can be ran all day on low to keep my pups warm. I have tried to give them a blanket to keep of the concrete and they just detroy it so I need something they can't reach to keep them warm. Any suggestions?

I even thought of a heating pad but they destroy everything we give them. And I am not sure if you can leave a heating pad on for such a long period of time. I can't put carpet. I have done that before and they tore it to pieces.

you could buy one of those heat lamps. They're like light bulbs, i had them when my dog had to be kept outside in the winter time. Worked out perfectly.

Heater For Dogs

thats sort of hard to answer. Since heat rises and you would need to have the heater up high.....

maybe you could purchase an electric heater that could be mounted on the wall or from the ceiling.

good luck, i worry about my little doggies when its really cold too. I've been leaving them in my house because i dont have a garage where i live.

I Cleared a space and put a Heater Lamp up very high and with the closed walls made it warmer.

Depending on the breed of dog, generally dogs will not need extra heat when they have proper shelter. Since the floor is concrete, it would be best to have a wooden floor raised at least 4 inches from the concrete. On this you could put a blanket or some straw (not hay). This should provide sufficient insulation from the cold concrete and keep your pups warm.

um, get a doghouse for each dog and put a blanket in each dog house.

leaving ANY heater plugged in and turned on, even in your garage, unattended is a fire hazard and may destroy not only your home but also your animals.

Doghouse(s) and blanket(s) is the key if you refuse to allow your animals in the house to be crated.

You need to get an infra-red heat lamp like they use for baby animals. These hang down from the ceiling, and you can get a cover for them to keep the dogs from getting a hold. These are readily available because they are used by breeders of all kinds.

Set up a heat lamp-they're available at most hardware stores. also instead of a blanket us a wooden platform-made from a pallet or old decking raise it about 3-4 inches of the ground and place it under the lamp.

Get/build a crate or doghouse that can hold both dogs and fill it with hay (keep it in the garage it will keep them warmer). They will not detstoy the hay and it will keep them warm. putting it in a house will also help keep the hay contained and provide warmth.
