My puppy is five and a half months old, and she is getting spayed Friday. I am really worried. Is it a big deal, or not?

She'll be sleepy for a while, and she shouldn't jump around or over-exert herself for a few days. She shouldn't be bathed until the stitches come out. Other than that, she'll be just fine.

Oh, and make sure you follow the no-feeding rule before hand! The vet will tell you when to take away food and water the day before, you MUST follow this or you will put your dog in jeopardy. Food and water in the dog's system can flow backward when the dog is under anesthesia and get into her lungs. I know it's hard when they cry at you, but you must be strict about this.

Good luck!

It's definitely not a big deal. She'll come home from the vet a little sleepy, and probably just want to rest for one or two days then she'll be back to normal. Becareful she doesn't play too hard for a week or two so she can heal. The vet will give you all the instructions on how to care for her after her surgery. If you have questions ASK! The vet will answer any questions you have.

Not a big deal. The operation is routine.
Her health will be better for it. It will lower her risk of mamary cancer and will eliminate the risk of pyometras. A possibley deadly uterine infection.
She may be tired and sleepy when she comes home. Limit her activity and feed her small amounts of food and water.
Do not let her run and jump. She should be ine in a day or two and eating as normal. But try to keep her from jumping and playing hard. It will make her heal faster and easier if she is kept quite.

Just keep a close eye on her for the next month or so. I got my dog spayed a few months ago and ever since she has been having problems with urinary track infections and she has trouble controling her bladder. I have to take her back to the vet Saturday because she has been having more and more accidents even if I just took her outside to do her business.

Thanks!!

No, it isn't that big of a deal. My yorkie pup got spayed and she was pretty sleepy for the first day, but then was pretty much back to normal. You just have to be careful about the stiches, that she doesn't rough play or chew them.

appropriate situation to do is call your vet and asked what their rules are, I artwork at a sanatorium and we don't do in one day stay. of course all surgical treatment artwork is achieved early in the day so as that by ability of nighttime %. up puppy can go homestead. make certain you get meds and e-collar, e-collar in positioned up pets will preclude puppy from attending to that area even though this is not a hundred%. you ought to have a re-verify 7-10days to confirm issues look solid.
