If you're worred about the dog doing the steps - don't worry about it. They can handle it and they are small enough to carry if they can't. If you're worried about YOU doing the steps a few times a day, get off your butt and give the dog the attention and love it needs, outside!

I have a 10 week old Maltese, eventhough I live only in the third floor I have potty trained her to go on her potty pad. These are small dogs and they don't make a big mess. I don't want her to go out as she's not fully vaccinated and she can easily sniff a virus or a bacteria that's left from other animals. Also, if I have to leave her alone for a few hours I know that she can just go on her potty pad rather than worrying about her potty. Even if you're home, it's 6 stories, and with winter coming, do you know how many times these little puppies pee? At least once every hour! So again you are better off with the dog litter box. As long as you change the litter frequently, you won't have any odor problems either.

Hope this helped.
Good Luck!
:)

I would train the pup to use the litter box. They are small dogs. I have a Bichonpoo. I trained her to use wee wee pads. She is 14 weeks old. I am going to keep her pad trained and take her outside as well. But particularly in the winter the pads will be handy.

both can be done. but preferably outside is better. i taught my dog to go in the tub if he had to.

that has only happened three times in ten years, when i got home late. it's easier to clean in the tub than off the carpet.

this is not something i would consider doing daily however. and i walk my shih-tzu three times a day. i have three flights of stairs and it actually helps to keep us both in shape.

if you are going to train for inside i would use paper instead of litter. that's just my preference. lol.

good luck.

I found that kennel training works best. Keep a new puppy in the kennel whenever you cannot watch it at all times. When you take it out of the kennel immediately take it out to go. If it goes use lots of praise. Keep doing this and your puppy will be house broke in no time.

Litter training would probably be the best but at least take her for walks.

WELL IF IT WAS A LARGER DOG I WOULD SAY DONT TREAT UR DOG LIKE AS CAT BUT SINCE ITS A GIRL DOG ANYWAY A LITTER BOX WILL BE JUST FINE AND MORE CONVENIENT FOR U AND UR FURRY/GIRLY FRIEND
