I was blessed to find a family that was trying to find another family to take their small dog. When I got home I looked on the net because I was curious to see what my dog was. I found out he's a "Schnoodle" schnauzer/poodle mix. Many people on here are somewhat freaks when it comes to mix breeds & call them mutts. It's your life & your choice. I hope your blessed like we were to find such a sweet, beautiful, loving, child friendly dog as we were. Don't listen to these "freaks" re: the mix breeds. Do as you choose. Good luck!

That is what the "breeders" say too..."best of both worlds". And people ACTUALLY believe it!!!!
How can you get only the best of both breeds and not the worst??? Does anyone really think that can be true??????????
Anyone who has had kids knows it isn't!! With any breeding..dogs,cats,people,sea monkeys...you cannot always get the best of both!! If that were possible, dog breeding would be done very little because you would get perfection all the time!!
Think twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Help"..you need help!! What you have IS considered a MUTT! It is NOT any kind of recognized breed at ALL!! No matter what you try and call it, it is still a MUTT!
Puppy mills even claim "champion lines". That is different from the PARENTS actually being CHAMPIONS!
I am not against you or anyone else getting a mix. That is fine. What I am against, is people breeding them to give them "cutsie" little names and selling them for MORE than either of the two breeds would be. That is just irresponsible. Also, the "breeders" make such stipid claims...they don't shed, they have no health problems, always wonderful temperments, champion lines....it goes on and on. If the two breeds that make the mutt both shed, the mutts will too!!! ALL DOGS SHED!! They won't tell you that. They don't tell you that Maltese AND Poodles both have certain health problems that good breeders screen for. They just claim that because they are mutts, there ARE NO health problems. It is just a money making thing and the "breeders" all think they are doing a great service and don't have to tell the truth.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a person is BREEDING hybrids-they are not a reponsible breeder-it just means they are out for the almighty dollar. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DESIGNER DOG-sorry nt yelling at you just so sick of people treating them like accessories. A mixed breed pup is probably worth about $100 -$150 dollars if all the proper vet care was given. Pups should not leave the litter until 8 weeks. You can find very nice small mixed breeds at petfinder.org or your local pound. If you want a quiet house dog, most toy breeds don't qualify-they are small but active. No particular mix is necessarily better than the rest. Stereotypically, terriers are opinionated and poodles and bichons tend to train their people, chihuahuas tend to only like a few people. All dogs even tiny ones need obedience training.

Adopting a mixed breed from a shelter = good! Buying a mixed breed from a 'breeder' = bad. Why? Mixed breeds that are already here through no fault of their own need homes or the shelters will have to put them down : (
Giving money to unscrupulous people who purposely bring mixed breeds into this world (while these deserving shelter dogs die) makes them continue to breed for more money. It is just plain wrong.
If someone wants a mutt, they should adopt a shelter dog. If they want a purebred, the should buy from a reputable breeder or adopt through the breed's rescue group. This is right way!
Plus: every mixed breed is a 'designer dog'! & No 'warm fuzzy feeling' can be as good as the one you get when you save a life.

People who intentionally breed mutts into a world where there are already 6 million dogs being killed annually are scum. (Hey, you wanted to hear what people had to say about them...)
Go to http://www.petfinder.com and click "Shelter and Rescue Groups" in the upper right - contact a shelter group near you and explain the lifestyle you have and that you'd like to add a dog to your family. They will should be able to help you find a dog that matches.

Don't support these breeders (aka back yard breeders). They are in it for money, not for the dog and bringing out the best in a breed. These breeders don't need your money. Take your money and find one to adopt. These breeders think they have something great, when in actuality, they are mixing breeds, making mutts (I do love mutts, though, just not purposely mated for money breeders!). There are many 'designer' breeds for adoption! Check local rescues, shelters and petfinders.org.
BTW - I know many rotties who are cuddlers and think their small lap dogs. :)

I have a hybrid, a Bichonpoo. She is 14 weeks old, her name is Esperanza. She is the cutest little furball. Very smart, easily trainable. She is mellow gets along with everyone and all pets. Is very healthy. She currently weighs 5 pounds and will not weigh more than 10 when full grown. I would definitely recommend this breed. See her picture at left.

Well contrary to all the answers you've received on this, all are voicing their own opinions on the hybrid breeds and breeders of such.I wish to express my opinion on this as I breed the Affen/Brussel Griffon and have found them to be an exceptional breed that is highly intelligent and very healthy.I'm not a back yard breeder and don't breed this cross for the money,as I don't need that and my cost for this breed is far below the cost of a purebred dog. Most on here have no experience in breeding dogs and are speaking out of turn in their opinion of Hybrid pets.My Hybrids come from champion lines and aren't considered mutts.I have many references and have been known as a responsible breeder for many years.

i am thinking a miniture poodle. even though you want a toy i would suggest a miniture poodle. you can cuddle with them and they can be your best friend. they can deal with other animals better than a little tiny thing could. or you could even try a maltese. my mom raises poodles and maybe you should look at her web site and maybe if you want some more information email her or call her.
