Same as it could do to humans -- worms, other parasites, bacteria, flatulance, stomach upset. Dogs can handle raw meat better than humans can, but unless that meat is fresh-killed you don't know what has gotten into it.

No, a balanced diet consisting of raw meats is actually very healthy for a dog. I don't have the time or space to feed my dogs raw, so I feed them the best kibble I can find instead. I used to feed them a dehydrated raw diet but they lost interest in it after about a year.

No. As someone else posted, wolves and foxes and coyotes and dingos do not have anyone to cook for them. Genetically speaking, our dogs are not far off from any of these. Raw meat is a natural diet.
Kibble has existed for less than 100 years, yet the companies who market kibble would have us believe that their leftover food products are the best thing for dogs to eat. Grains, which make up more than 50% of most kibbles, are not natural food sources for dogs. Vegetables are great snacks, but are not natural food sources for dogs. People feed crappy kibble and then think it's perfectly normal for dogs to have stinky farts and scratch themselves all the time and have goopy ears and fur that makes your hands icky when you pet them. Those things are NOT normal. Even dogs on premium kibble struggle with allergies and other health problems that aren't immediately obvious.
Although many people have a reasonable concern about bacteria and parasites, things like salmonella do not affect dogs in the way they do humans. Dogs lick each other's butts and eat dead things that have been laying in the hot sun for six days with no more ill effect than perhaps vomiting it back up onto our living room carpet. The same food choice would put a human in the hospital. Dog stomachs are designed to handle things very differently than human stomachs. Raw meat for people = bad. Raw meat for dogs = healthy diet.

The thing you have to worry about with raw meat in the diet is a shiny coat and a healthy dog! Seriously raw feeding is a great way to go. It's how I plan to feed my dogs. It's a pain to do but definitely worth it because you bypass all the toxins and grain in dog food that way.

Raw meat, along with offal (liver, kidney, etc), and consumable raw bones is the best possible diet a dog can eat. Dogs are carnivores and do not need grains in their diet...which that junk in a bag uses as its base. Feeding dogs raw meat improves the coat on a dog, keeps their teeth clean, makes older dogs act years younger (grains can aggravate arthritis), and has many other benefits.

I have been feeding a raw BARF type diet for my 5 dogs for about 1 yr. I also have a 15 yr old st. poodle that is eating this, and has stopped having seizures, no more intestinal problems. my dogs have never been healthier! If the food is prepared and fresh, it's fine. do some research:

many low-cost commercial dog foods will harm your pet more than a raw and natural diet.

There are raw meat sites on the internet to check out. They say feeding dogs raw chicken is better than cooked because the bones are not brittle until they have been cooked. I guess it all depends on what you believe. Good Luck with your search. Anne

Raw meat is not dangerous to dogs. They are not people, they are dogs. They are not prone to diseases and parasites from raw meat.
There are MANY people who feed their dogs a RAW ONLY diet who thrive on it. It's the only alternative for many with dogs with severe allergies who can't eat any grains (which most commercial dog kibble is made of).
There is no problem giving it!

Not at all. The BARF diet is based on raw meat and many breeders are making the switch from kibble to a raw diet and there are many good books out on it. Bones and raw food. The idea is to give dogs a diet that is more natural to them.

Yes,eating raw foods can hurt the dog. You see, the reason why we human beings cook our food is to kill many microorganisms roaming around in the raw food. Tell your friend that feeding the dog raw foods can make it very sick. It could led to gastrointestinal worm infections, diarrhea and the like.
