honey, try contacting a no-kill shelter in yhour area. also, you may try to get a hold of a beagle rescue and they could possibly foster him in another home. i work with doberman rescue of southwest ohio and we do that quite frequently. if the dog is going to be abandones, the SPCA in your area can take him and he won't be put down of it is investigated by them AS abandonment. there are laws against that. try no to get too offended at some of the stupid comments people make here. they just like trying to sound much more educated and get a rise out of putting people down. i understand your heart. God gave you a special gift of compassion. try the rescue. look on petfinder.com if you need help finding one in your area.

good luck and prayers are with you.

You can place an add in the paper which usually works or you can go to the fallowing sight for help. There is also a classifieds on here:

As far as the chewing, a lot of dogs chew for many reasons. When the dog starts to chew something you don't want it too take the item away and say firmly "NO" then give the dog something it can chew on. Like a bone or squeaky toy. The dog is going to chew no matter what you do, but the trick is to teach it what it can and cant chew on.

And no offense to the writer but please dont put peanut butter on your dogs mouth. It is only a quick solution and will not fix the problem. Also, its kinda mean. That's like having a toddler that runs from you in a store, so you make the kid run until they cant run any longer. And it can cause cramps which everyone knows cause pain. And that's not cool.

Hi,my dad used to raise hunting dogs of all kinds and beagles were one of his favorite! We did have a couple that we adopted as they were not high quality hunters and dad hated and refused to destroy any of his dogs.Anyway, beagles are working dogs and need to have something to do.We had a couple that became pets and to keep them from chewing we made up hunting games and just spent alot of our time teaching tricks etc.Beagles like alot of hunters get b ored and also can get separation anxiety. They are very lovable and get attatched easily. If they are ignored or misunderstood they do what most animals do and that is they will do anything to get attention. My rottie was severely abused and neglected (25 pounds at 11 months old) He is a working dog also and when we adopted him he chewed and just was naughty. We gave him a jobs and one of those jobs was to carry a backpack when we walked. It sounds a little "off" but the backpack has water bottles in it and he "works" by carrying it. Also every night we have play time and learning time, same as w/ our beagles growing up.I hope that helps some. You sound like a caring person and I wish you luck! tazzyangel8@yahoo.com

Im sorry to say his but I think beagles are soooo annoying and I love dogs .I had one with papers and I gave it to a guy a the flea market that dealt in them ,papers and all .All it did was howl bark and when we would let it lose to follow us around to teach it to hunt it would run off for days .All our other dogs stayed with us .One time my husband dropped it off and the kids yelled later that day dad theres buddy and he had walked some miles .They just love to sniff and go and chew ,high strung.Im not sure maybe I had a bad one ,or just didnt know how to handle it .Good luck. They usually dont like other dogs.

If the owner does not want him you can try posting a ad on craigslist.com it is free. Don't know how dedicated they are into keeping him but if so make sure he has plenty of toys to chew on instead of the owners belongings.

I'll need to see a photo, but I'll probably take him if he is free and if he is vaccinated. I will keep him at my kennels until I rehome him somewhere suitable. It is like my unofficial job to rescue unwanted dogs & cats - within reason!! You just need to get him to me in Yamba (Northern Rivers), NSW
