Remy is almost 2 years old and weighs about 50 - 55 pounds (full grown). He is very cuddly, lovable and calm. He doesnt show any signs of hatred or aggresion. We have been thinking about getting another dog but dont know if we should get a female or a male. We have decided not to get a dog bigger then him full grown and sort of know the breed and breeder we want. just want some suggestions on the sex we should get. Neither of us have ever had more then one dog at a time. Suggestions please?

Everytime a firework goes off, he jumps, and he's getting scared. He barks at them everynow and then but other than that between the fireworks he's really twitchy...

(I don't see why the idiots are letting fireworks off already anyway)

We have a 5 month old basset who constantly bites our hands, legs, face and anything he can get his teeth on. It really hurts and it seems like when I push him away and yell at him he comes back stronger. I hate hitting him but sometimes its the only way to get him off. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to lock him up in his create just for him to calm down. He has plenty of toys but he doesnt want those, for some reason he wants flesh. I also bought that bitter spay but it only works for a few seconds then back to biting. Any suggestions??

Well Biscuit is now 3 months old and we are going on our first long road trip. He has rode in the car a lot, but not for so long. He will be in the car for 31/2 hours. Does anyone have any advice on making his trip a good one. He is going to be riding in his crate. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Is it a method of training using a crate, or teaching a dog to stay in a crate? Either way, explain how it works and why it is necessary, if you know, please.

My dog is 11 but since she was 1 she had been diagnosed with a bladder control problem (forgot actually term--something about a weak valve). She pees, without realizing she's peeing. I'd see puddles/wet spots underneath her but she wouldn't move or get up. The vet said she was unaware she'd urinated. She was on medicine that controlled it but they discontinued that med. The new med was much more costly and not as effective. For a while it was okay, but now that she is older, the peeing is getting out of control. Rather than banishing her to be an outdoor dog, what can I do? I am seriously considering making cloth diapers for her. Maybe even regular diapers. Any help would be appreciated.

My 4yr.old Amer.bulldog just delivered a litter of 8 pups on 10/14/06 and the pups have been dropping like flies! we are down to 3 pups as of today. I keep the room nice, clean and warm but their body temp. started to drop very quickly one by one. The 3 survivers seem to be doing well,
I just wondered what could have happened? This is my dogs 2nd litter, the first litter was born 3/17/06 she had 7 pups and 6 survived. Was it to soon to mate again? Please Help!

My dog was sprinting around in the woods, and when she came back limping I looked at her paw. It looks like the tendon holding her toe to the rest of the paw has been mostly sliced through. Now that toe sticks out more than the rest, and the claw on that one points out and a little upward, while the rest of the claws point downward toward the ground. It's been about a week - at first I thought it was just a cut. She licks it all the time. Will this be a permanent injury? Is there anything I can do? She seems to be taking good care of it herself - should I take her in? From what I've heard about tendon injuries in people it seems like there's usually not much one can do. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.
