You are in the right.
Dogs do sometimes wee through excitement, but not poo. Besides, whatever the reason/excuse for her dog pooing, the poo is not the issue. Dogs need to clear out just as we do.
The issue is that the owner is not picking up after her dog. If she had any decency she would pick up after the dog.
What's more - how can she not know what the dog has done? Surely she is with the dog at the time and can see what it is doing! If not then there's another issue, that being that her dog is not under control - be it in a public place or on another person's property.
You've told her what the problem was and she did not stop it. I can't see you had any option, you've done the right thing informing the council. I hope they can sort it.

You are.
She is being irresponsible by letting her dog mess anywhere other than her own back yard, by not clearing it up, by letting it happen more than once, by not apologising and by making stupid excuses.
You tried being reasonable and it didn't work. You knocked on her door and ask her to clear up the dog mess on your doorstep. A lot of people would have escalated into a row the first time.
Now she is upset because she has realised that she can't do what she wants when she feels like it. Tough! She's an irresponsible and lazy dog owner. The dog shouldn't be chucked out the front door every day to do its mess.
Carry on being polite and friendly to her about everything else. You are still stuck with her as a neighbour.
Poor you!

Hi ME
Great question and worth answering. So dog lovers don't jump all over her, she's just asking. I have a Westie and i love her to death,,, bu never would i leave her poop lying about for some one else to clean up. So although you phoned the local council on her i still think you did the right thing. Could you all image if you child was to walk out your front and play with it,,,,, She never phoned the DOG POUND its not the dogs fault but the owners,,, she should have lifted it as she has already been told about it. I SAY YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

well it doesn't make any difference WHY the dog messes by your door, the facts are that the dog should not be roaming loose and allowed to mess where it wants. If it messes, she should pick it up. You did the right thing in informing the dog warden. Personally I would have scooped the turds up and shoved them through her letter box and if she said anything, I would have replied that I was simply returning something which belonged to her dog.

Sounds like your neighbor needs some help to become a responsible pet owner. If your requests to her did not change the situation, you did the right thing to turn her in. She's probably mad because she got caught. Irresponsible pet owners that do not pick up after their pets in public give all other pet owners a bad name.
Also dogs deficate and urinate to mark territory. The dog may be expanding on what it is calling it's TURF. Again, many owners are ignorant to their pooch's attempts to declare TURF and that ignorance can upset others.

First of all her dog SHOULD NOT be running around lose and run in your yard or porch. If she cares so much about her dog, the dog should be in her house and not running free. If she cannot take care of her dog appropriately, she should find a responsible new owner for it. Just do not hurt the dog, or allow her to hurt it either. If she is upset that you called, local council should have told her that dogs do not run around the neighborhood. They should be kept in her house, or in a fenced yard, or on a leash when walking around the neighborhood. Tell her to please take him for walks and that way she can pick up after his messes. Here in Miami, you must pick up after your dog and walk the dog on a leash, and all my neighbors respect each other when it comes to their dogs, and the entire neighborhood has dogs and I have not seen any running around our yards.... I have four dogs and I let them play in my backyard/terrace when I get home from work until about 8 p.m. then they come inside. But I would never allow any of them to go poop on my neighbors front door!

Is there a leash law in your area? That would be one thing you can have enforced for you.
Be sure to tell your neighbor how much this bothers you. That neighbor should be supervising the dog and cleaning up the messes. That is her job and all responsible owners do this.
It is possible to teach her dog to eliminate in one place only (not your yard). That would require she train the dog. If she thinks the dog messes because it is excited it is clear she doesn't know anything about her dog, so she really needs to invest in some training.
If she will not keep her dog at home, she should put up a fence. If she still refuses, you can call the pound and have the dog picked up. 'Course that'll make her really mad....

I think she should try to keep her dog away from your door, she could be telling the truth coz dogs do sometimes have a little accident when they get excited, but its no good if you are having to constantly alert her to the fact. Dog mess is a serious health hazard, it causes toxocara canis and toxiplasmosis and can transmit worms. I think you did the right thing. She is only upset because she has to clean it up.
And yes I am a dog lover, but I dont love dog mess lol. Especially if its not your dog.

After a splash bit complaining they're now put in the lower back backyard, for this reason, do no longer see or hear them anymore. different than whilst the girl of the domicile, comes domicile - then they pass wild. those 2/3 minutes we settle for conveniently.
