When my dog gets excited eg. when we play around to just me coming home from work she gets really excited and play bites my wrists. I started shoving my wrists further down her throat and in a deep growling voice say 'no' and stop what i'm doing even walk away from her. But it doesn't stop her. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and I would like to know what you did/done to stop it?

My son's Black Lab//Chow mix comes up to me and will "ask" for a doggie bisquit. We call them 'cookies.' But he will come to me and make a sound asking for some that sounds like hes saying "I wan" and other times he comes back and says "more"

And of course the whole time he's wagging his tail from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.

My brother-in-law has two pitbulls, well today they attacked my great-Uncle's small dog.I suggested they should have the two dogs put down, because this is not the first time they attacked another animal.I worry because my nephew is in this household, and I think these dogs have the bloodlust now!Last week they went after my child! Do you think I should call,so something will be done about these aggressive dogs? I tired of talking to my brother-in-law, but he says the dogs are not that way! And he got really mad at me!

What does your dachshund do that makes her so endearing?

I have a dachshund and she is the most loving, adoring lap-dog on the planet. If I sit, she in my lap. If I'm sitting on the couch with my computer in my lap like I am now, she's nudging it out of my lap with her nose so she can sit in my lap. So I have to readjust so she can sit in my lap. I love my little lap dog. She's so adorable.

Several years ago I went to a website where it would help you pick the right breed of dog to fit your wants and lifestyle. It would ask you questions like do you have a house or live in an apartment?Like shedding or not,big or small, barks alot or not, and what kind of disposition you prefer.

We just moved to a new house on a pretty busy street (our house is pretty far back off the road though..). I'm so careful about keeping the dog tied up or on a leash, but the other day he got so excited about my mom in the driveway that he bolted out the door, then continued to cross the street where another dog was. He almost got hit, and then almost again on his way back. I'm scared this will happen again soon and this time he will get hit. We are considering a normal fence, but with growing children, the gate can be left open by accident! I figured an invisible fence will be safe from human error-- even if he does escape out of the front door when a friend comes over, he wont leave the yard and no one can leave the "gate" open... Please, if anyone knows if they work, let me know! I love my dog!

I'm looking for a dog...my doggy of 13 years passed away. I would like a quiet dog preferably one that is cat-like in nature (quiet, independent, cuddly) My old dog was a sheltie, but she was raised around cats. I've heard that miniature collies (a sheltie bred with a collie...lots of new breeders and MANY of them in collie rescues) are very cat like and quiet. Does anyone know of any other breeds that are like this?

I have a 7 month old beagle who is totally unreliable off leash, and outside, or even inside when we have visitors (i don't let her off leash, she sometimes manages to get out of the house when front door open). Anyways, she's been to puppy kindy, and loves other dogs, and people. We just want her to listen to our commands more and so are going to take her to obedience school. As yet she only comes, sits, and such when she feels like it, and when she knows for sure we have treats.
What is better : group sessions (where there are distractions in the form of other dogs), or one on one lessons at a park.

At home she is not really a trouble dog, and i adhere to many dominance methods, eg. pretending to eat out of her bowl, and ignoring her.

Skeeter is 7, and just itches a lot. No dry skin or sore patches. I have him groomed about 4 times a year. The vet says to keep him on Science Diet- lamb and rice. Have done this for over 3 years and can't see any change. Other than the itching, which seems to bother me more than Skeeter, he is a happy healthy little fellow. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank-you.
