What does your dachshund do that makes her so endearing?

I have a dachshund and she is the most loving, adoring lap-dog on the planet. If I sit, she in my lap. If I'm sitting on the couch with my computer in my lap like I am now, she's nudging it out of my lap with her nose so she can sit in my lap. So I have to readjust so she can sit in my lap. I love my little lap dog. She's so adorable.

I'm being stared at right now..because I'm on the computer!! The minute I shut it down.. they will start running around in circles, to get my attention.. "rotten thing that computer" takes her attention away from us.."

The best, well, you said it ...lap dog. cuddly, very dedicated to their owners.

Mine have a ...let's play ball issue..but when I throw it they pretend they can't find it, so I will walk over and show them where it is.. I get tricked every time.

thanks for the dachshund tribute.. great

My husband's family had only dachshunds, so that was the kind of dog we bought when we got married. We had two of them over the years; a black and tan mini female who had four beautiful litters of pups (all sold before they were 6 weeks old). She travelled all over the country with us in our VW pickup truck before we had children. What a trooper!

The next was a standard long-haired red female who was my cuddler until we had to put her to sleep at 18 years old. She was the loving hot water bottle-dog who snuggled against my tummy on the couch when I was pregnant with my four sons.

What do I like best about my dachshunds? They're smart, alert, easily trained, affectionate, protective and approachable.
Unfortunately, my husband brought home a sweet, cuddly-bear rottweiler puppy one day, so we have had a two-dog hiatus from our dachshund dynasty. When our current rottie is gone, though, we'll be wierner-dog people again. Rotties are lousy lap cuddler-wannabes... they don't fit!!

We have two. A red girl and a black & tan boy. Maggie & Bailey, sister & brother, 18 months old. They are the sweetest dogs and are so full of energy. I think they would be lost without each other. They don't like new people but LOVE LOVE LOVE the family. It's so cute when they "horse" around together then are so exhausted, they just want to be held so they can sleep. I think they (as a breed) are such wonderful dogs.

I love that our 9 month old mini, Red, has truly become part of our family. He is our first dog ever and already he knows the ins and outs of the household. I feel like he senses every spark of emotion that goes on within these walls. My favorite thing, however, would have to be his bouncing-off-the-wall with happiness demeanor upon my return home. No matter how crappy my day could have been, my puppy is always happy to see me :)

smart, easy to train and so affectionate...besides being so darn CUTE! My Sophie is the best dog I've ever met. She stays in whatever room I'm in cuddled up in one of her little beds if not in my lap. Check her page on Dogster.com (search Sophie in Grand Junction)

ours is 12. He has quite a personality and we have nick named him houdini because he can get out of ANYTHING!!!!! He even jumped up to our basement window and bent the frame(not the screen) to get out of the house when we were out and went to our neighbors where our son sometimes would play and pawed at their door!

have you ever tryed to have a little bed in the same room for her/him. so when ever you are sitting you can leave her/him on there and just keep giving him/her treets. once they sit on you pick them up and put them right back on the bed
