Incessant barking isn't attributable to breed; it's attributable to BAD TRAINING.
We suggest that you contact Animal Control (AC) and report the dog as a "nuisance". This will give AC the opportunity to go over to the pit's home and find out what it's circumstances are. It might be barking because it's being isolated or abused -- and AC can find that out and force the owner to take steps to correct the dog's situation. (You can file the complaint anonymously, if you're afraid of relatiation by the odg's owner.)

To the poster bashing Pits ,just lay off. I get so sick and tired of reading this. This person asked a question about barking.I own 2 Pitties ,and yes both will bark if I let them.Tigger will bark in and out of the house. In the house I remove the stimuli that will make her bark,it's being able to look out windows.Anything that moves she barks at.Out side they both will bark ,then I bring them in.If this dog is out 24/7 he's most likely bored and in need of some serious attention.Call AC or the police and report nucaince barking.

I think that they do , because my pit bulls bark a lot every time people pass by. They also bark to other dogs.

My dog barks all the time. She might have a small amount of pit bull in her, but she's mostly not.

Ha! My neighbours BEAGLE barks constantly not my pitbull. The worst part is, they are home and allow it to do this. If they were away, there is really nothing they can do but it really bothers me when they are hanging out in their garage and their damn dog is howling. Any dog will bark and bark and bark if you let it. I go out and tell it to shut up and it does listen so I don't know why it is so hard for them to do.

Honey, pits are just nuts. They were bred that way. Their history is of a fighting dog. This is not to say that once in awhile one is a great pet, but they were not bred to be a companion dog. There is lots and lots of $$$ in betting on dog fights, (thousands and thousands in one night)and pits are the chosen breed. Those that are sold as pets are deemed by the breeder to just not be vicious enough. Lots of places outlaw pits, not only for the cruelty involved in one dog tearing up another for the sport of it, but for the ilk of people involved in this "sport". In my county, we can call the humane society on a barking dog. The owner is sent a letter, with suggestions on how to stop the barking. try that first

my sister has a red-nose pitbull and she doesn't bark much. only when your playing with her rough or if she feels someone is invading their home or yard. usually if they bark all the time outside, they just want attention.
