Give her lots and lots of chew toys. Spray stay off training aid on your furniture. You could also take your dog to a training and obedience class. You need to make sure your pup knows you are in charge. Anytime your pup gets too playful take him and roll him on his back and hold his muzzle closed. Then speak in a clam but assertive voice. That is a submissive position. If he struggles to get a way do not let him until he calms down. Do not let her bite your kids. If your kids are old enough then tell them to tell the dog every time it happens "NO" in a firm voice. If you see the dog getting to rough then remove the pup from the room.

By the way congrats on your new family member. Pits are great dogs... they just have tons of energy. You will need to harness that energy... but once you do you will never have a better dog.

Angel,
8weeks old is not to young to train. It is just harder because they have short attention spans. My pit learned 3 or 4 tricks when he was 6 weeks old.
Just give it away? No only give away the dog if the dog is being aggressive. There is such a thing as play biting... which is what the pup is probably doing. If this was a lab pup would you say to just give it away?

Well no your puppy might or is probably not aggresive. Also, this pit bull, as a result of its gentically trends that cannot be altered, might come to a decision to come to be very aggresive with none caution indicators and at any time. nine men and women were killed by way of this breed this 12 months. I'm conscious there's a well threat the puppy will on no account harm any one, but when it made up our minds to comply with it is real instincts, the results could be terrible. A household pit bull who used to be raised by way of them from a dog and used to be eight years historic, been round youngsters, on no account confirmed any indicators of agression, and the puppy killed the two month historic little one. And it occurs plenty. nine men and women were killed by way of a pit bull this 12 months. That's sufficient to difference my brain approximately any animal. I could on no account have a pit bull round my youngster. These puppies are truthfully ticking time bombs. Read a few reviews from the victoms which were attacked or from households who've misplaced a youngster due to the fact in their loss of schooling at the fact of those puppies.

He's a puppy right? So give him some toys, a Kong with peanut butter or something to distract him from your furniture. And when he chews on his toys praise the heck out of him, and through in some treats when he does a good job playing with his toys. But if he chews on the furniture, don't scold him or even yell. Just take him away not saying a word and then give him a toy. Later on he will realize. "Hey I get treats when I chew on toys! =D" It will be a good thing to do.

Buy some "bitter apple" from the pet store and spray it where your dog is biting, you could also spray it in the dogs mouth whenever it is doing somthing that you don't want it to (like biting the baby) and it will learn not to. I would also reccomend getting some toys for the dog (if you haven't already) because it may be teething and just need somthing to chew on.

8 weeks is still a baby for a puppy, pitbull or not. My Ralphie chewed up a 100 year old antique chair (my fault, I shouldve moved it). He's teething. Get him some chew toys.
There's this spray you can get, it has bitter apple in it and that might do the trick (spray it on the furniture)

Consider buying some interesting toys of all varities. Try the kongs that you can put a treat in or sometime you can even hang a rope in the yard from a tree and let him bite and hang off of that. He is active and board, not a good mix for your poor unsuspecting couch.

It is a proven fact that the pit bull is a born killer. He will not only bite your furniture and your kid but will one day attack you . In some places he has been outlawed and is restricted in most places. Get rid of him.

Your puppy is 8 weeks old? , then she's not to old to be trained. If she's biteing the kids it may be the best thing to give her away and to get a less tempered dog.

I think that you need to buy lots of chew toys for him. And if he keeps biting the furniture just teach him not to. Or maybe you should just keep him/her outside.
