Have you heard of obedience training??? She won't just know that biting is wrong...pups bite each other in play, you have to tell her its wrong and teach her better ways to play with you...Do you think just getting her a toy will satisfy her need for stimulation? If you cared about her, you would be trying to train her not to bite instead of getting her one toy and saying entertain your self...that's not how it works! If you don't care enough about your dog to train her whats good and whats not, maybe you should find her a home with experienced dog owners.

re: Oh...i guess now i should be intimidated now...You know so many BIG GIRL words....ooooh you are so brave, cussing at people without letting them respond...you are so smart....hahaha

Talk about a predetermined reaction of someone who has the IQ of a door knob...hahah. Do you actually think I care what low lives like you think about me?...Its not my fault you don't even know how to take care of a dog. Its people like you that cause so much animal suffering and neglect in the world. A fact is a fact, you would be trying to re-enforce good doggy behavior if you really cared; but seeing how ignorant, and moronic your thought process is...i can see why your dog bites you. Hope one day you gain the intelect your dog has acquired.

Sincerely,
Bedazzled

I wish you had given more info, age of dog, how long you've had it, has a vet checked it's teeth, is it chewing you or biting you? There is a difference. Puppies can be rolled on their backs and growled at when they are aggressive. If it's new behavior for an older dog, has it got a sore or tender area you may not have noticed that when touched brings on this response? Biting can not be tolerated but causes must be considered while you work on the solution. An older dog may be getting arthritic and truly in pain when picked up or held awkwardly. If this is puppy behavior, I have gone so far as to gently grab it's tongue or to push my hand into it's mouth until it backs off on it's own. All the time staying very calm. The idea to transmit is IT'S NOT FUN TO CHEW ON MOMMY- IT'S NOT PART OF A GAME I WANT TO PLAY. Play must not continue when unacceptable behavior is occurring. You may want to ask your local humane society to recommend a training program in your area. Most behavior problems start with an owner who confuses the pup by being inconsistant and overly complicated. Good Luck.

First 'supply up' the popping! do no longer use your hand to ultimate your dogs, you're sending him blend alerts. even as he does some thing incorrect use a small spray bottle and spray slightly of water in his face, they hate it. once you get a domestic dog you need to assume it to be a domestic dog meaning they are going to chew, chew, bark. once you word him going for a chunk of furniture or some thing he's not any longer think to do say 'no' and get rid of him and components him a bone to chew. If he would not chew the bones you've given him that's because you haven't stumbled on the right bone yet, shop searching for that particular bone he will like to chew. even as he bites use the spray water besides and say 'no'. It takes an entire 3 hundred and sixty 5 days to coach a domestic dog. Your mom has to have better staying power then this.

Teach her to stop!!!!! This "distract the puppy with the toy" theory that is out there is just flat stupid: So it the spray the dog thing (the latest fad) - all the dog learns is to not do it when you have the water bottle. So is the spray your hands with gunk.

JUST TRAIN THE DOG NOT TO!!

She thinks she is playing with you.

Puppies bite - that is how dogs and puppies play with each other.

You have to DO something about it.

When he nips at you, roar NO in a deep voice, grab him by the collar or back of the neck, push him down and hold him on the ground and as you are doing that and snap your fingers on the end of his nose or slap his nose with your fingers. WHile youo pin him down and get his nose, lean over him and keep saying BAD BAD BAD - do NOT let your voice slide up, make it deep.

In a group of dogs, if he nipped the leader, they would knock him over, grab the skin on his neck or the side of his face and pinch it without breaking the skin, and growl.

So do what they would do. That is something a dog understands instinctively - born preprogrammed to get that message. Lot of theoreis out there abou yelping in pain and pushing him away or (really dumb) spraying him with water - but your puppy didn't read those books!

Get after him about EVERY SINGLE TIME - you must be 100% consistent.

When the puppy bites at you, gently grab the scruff of the back of his neck, shake lightly and say "No Bite". This is the same method a mother dog uses to discipline her puppies and will get your puppies attention. Mom did this to your puppy and you are communicating with your puppy in a way HE understands. When your puppy releases the bite, praise the puppy for the good behavior. It's also a good idea to offer the puppy acceptable things to bite such as a toy. Your puppy needs to learn what is appropriate.

You have to be very consistent and never let the biting slide without addressing it or you will send mixed signals and confuse your puppy.

Your puppy just sees you as a litter playmate and simply needs to be taught that biting you is not appropriate.

This method was suggested by both my vet and our puppy trainer. We have a Border Collie and nipping is an issue with this herding breed. We have been using these methods with really good results. Be patient, it takes time to teach your puppy and not all learn at the same pace, but if you are consistent, it will work.

if u were to gently bite it back everytime it bites you(rinse your mouth immediately), it should learn not to bite you anymore.
