I have a 12 yr old female chihuahua. She has never mated with any dog in the past. But just today she connected with a mixed breed dashhund. It wasnt purposely but it happened and Im worried that she may be too old for pregnancy...I want to know what risks I have and if theres anything I could do to make the pregnancy smoother?

Meet my baby, Mistletoe!

http://pics.livejournal.com/lady_nova/gallery/0000r4ha

She's a mutt, who was sold to us as a Yorkie. We bought her as a tiny puppy, and have had her for eight years. If I had to guess, I would think she is part Yorkie, but I would like some input from the general public on what breeds they think contributed to the birth of my sweet pup.

As far as behaviour, she has shown 'herding' behaviour towards my cat and other dog, which we thought was strange. She has a tendency to run off if given the opportunity (which we take every precaution to not give her). She is a medium sized dog, about 25lbs. She also has somewhat of a prey drive when it comes to wild animals, most specifically rabbits. She is terrified of loud noises (fireworks, thunder, etc.) and is extremely social; she will cuddle up and fall asleep right next to you. She exhibits no signs of violence whatsoever, never bites, and hardly ever growls or barks.

I'm asking for preventive or post heartworm infection without testing for them at the vet. The vet is so expensive just to test, so I usually give my dogs stuff that is over the counter dog medication like for ear mites, worms.

The main question is giving them something for a blood borne parasite!

I used to have to chase my dog around the basement if she got lose, then lure her into my room with treats, and it got so bad it i had to brush my teeth, use the bathroom, or wash my face, i would just pick her up and carry her with me. Every time i had to open the door!

But latley when i get up and start walkin twords my door, she might move her head to see, buts thats it! She stays on my bed, to test her i left the door open a little once and she doesnt move!
When i tried going to sleep a few hours ago, she just came in and layd down on my bed beside me!

Why has she suddenly behaved? she hasnt gotten in the trash, and shes more cuddly!

I have a 5 mo old girl maltese. She does pretty good with going to the bathroom outside but now all of a sudden she has little accidents here and there. People have been telling me "shes just a puppy so its normal" so how long will this last for? How long is "normal" because its getting really fustrating. She was doing so good!

My smooth fox terrier guards the kitchen table and the counter any time a meal is being cooked or served. He likes to hang out near the source of the food in case anything drops and will attack my other dog if she comes too close to the area sometimes resulting in a nasty fight.

Why does my female doggy try to have sex with my male dog? He never tries to do anything with her. Ever... hehe. I got her spayed when she was 1 year old. Did I do it too early? Also, I found the male dog a year ago and haven't taken him to the vet so I do not know if he is neutered. Since he never tries to do anything with my female dog does this mean that he is?

I have a german shephard/black lab mix that I adopted last year. We are his third owners. I love him to pieces but unfortunately life has changed and I need to put him up for adoption. Does anyone know of a way to do this in clatsop county oregon that will ensure he get a good owner. I hate having to do this but i need to make sure he go to a really really great home.

well we found this place that was extremely run down so we spray painted it up. well we got caught and the owner of the property is a real hot head, and he wants to press charges. we might have to go to juvi(i doubt it) even though it is not that big of a deal. If they decide we must go to juvi we are planning to run away.should we do it...and also if we do do it then how would we do it, what would we pack, where should we go, and when should we come back? more info: we are all about 12 and 13 and we have no real "records" but we really need your honest opinion please. p.s. i put this under dogs because there isnt really anything to classify this under and we need a lot of answers very fast and this is a commonly looked at subject.

Adopted a Hurricane Katrina Dog, don't know anything about him, except he is probably about 7 years old. Can older dogs learn new habits easily, like not to beg for food, or rummage through garbage, when he has probably did it for survival after the hurricane?
