if she is going a little bit here and there it is possible that she has a UTI. you should check with your vet. if your vet says she is ok, i would put bells on the door(where she can reach them). then every time you go outside with her be sure to ring the bells. she will relize that to go outside she has to ring the bells. but when she goes potty outside you need to make a big deal out of it... telling what a good girl she is, petting her, even giving her treats after she goes. when you make a big deal she will relize to make you happy she needs to potty outside.

first, do not shove her nose in her urine! that is inhumane!
But, while I hate to say this... it is normal. Maltese as a breed don't mature until around 10 months to 1 year of age. There is a product called 'Puppy Pads' that you can get at any Wal-mart, Target or grocery store. It is an absorbant pad that is scented to attract the puppy to it. Once there, it is instinct for the puppy to pee on it. When the puppy pees on it, be close by to praise and reward the good behavior.
When the puppy has an accident, don't scold the puppy. All scolding does is teach the puppy to fear you. Just clean it up and remember that you only have about 5 more months of this.

i don't believe shoving her nose in it is going to help.
the best approach is to try to not let the little accidents happen. take her outside as much as possible. after eating, after drinking, after playing, in the morning, before bed...etc...this reinforces to her that potty is done outside. if you catch her going inside shout NO! very loud, scoop her up and bring her to grass immediatley and say GOOD! and don't forget little treats too mom, for when she does go on grass. something small so she doesn't fill up.
remember that puppy bladders are very small so urges come frequently. as she gets older she'll learn better control and routine. just be patient with her. as long as timeframe goes, every dog is different but i would say if you stay consistant with a routine maybe another month at most.

you need to shove her nose in it and yell at her "NO bad dog" then put her outside immediatly so she knows where she needs to go and that's the only place she's allowed to go. award her with treats or praise her when she does it outside
