Your female is displaying normal dominance posturing, it has nothing to do with when you spayed her. If the male is not trying to be boss he will not hump the female unless she is in heat (ready to breed). If you look or feel between your male dogs back legs you will be able to tell if he has been neutered. If you find testicles (balls) in a sack (scrutum) directly behind his penis he has not been neutered. They are very obvious.

Usually an easy way to tell if your male dog is altered is to check his testies. The typical neutering process removes the testies leaving an empty sac, which will eventually shrink a bit. But if the dog still has both of them, chances are he is not neutered. And no, getting your female pet spayed at 1 year was not to early, she may just going through some hormonal things that cause her to be more frisky with male dogs. Some may think that 1 year was a bit late considering other factors with long term health issues with female dogs. But overall, altering your dog is a great decision in pet ownership.
The humping thing is normal to, even for a female dog. It just means that she is trying to establish that she is the Alpha (or Beta if your dog knows you as the Alpha Leader), dog.

Like in a Pack there is a pecking order and she is just showing Him she is above him in the pack (you ,her him, and other members of Family become Her pack). As far as if your male is Neutered or not its Simple hon .. Does He have Testicles?? If Yes He's Not Neutered, If No then He is Neutered..

females are the top of the heirarchy of a dog pack. your females mounting has nothing to do with mating and everything to do with asserting her dominance over the other dog. she is letting him know that she is the boss. there is no reason to discourage her....she is maintaining her position as top dog. no big deal. as for the person who used to work at Petco..they have no clue what they are talking about. spaying and neutering your pet is nothing but the responsible thing to do.

if your dog has been spayed or neutered, she might act "crazy" why? I used to work at Petco, and i see clearly the difference between cats and dogs that has been spayed or neutered. They become lethargic, their breath stink, they smell bad in general, and they lack the vitality they once had. Think about it, if someone cut our a functioning organ from your body without you knowing, what would happy? you would become ill, right? an intelligent animal like you? of course. Any behavior animals have are in direct correlation with human actions. They do not act a certain way "because they are animals" believe it or not, they have logic/reasoning/before and after thoughts just like any living things, even things as small as bees knows to sting you when its mad. if you hurt them physically, they will become "crazy" psychologically. I don't call them "dog behavior" I call them "puppy who are unwillingly made permanently ill for the rest of their life, thus became crazy/insane behavior"

It is pretty easy to tell if the male is neutered. If he still has his ball sack then no he isnt neutered. If no then he has been.
As far as when you got your female spayed no a year isnt to young. We have spayed females at 12wks old.

Well, it's pretty easy to tell. Have you ever checked yourself? He probably is, and most female dogs do that anyway, even if they are fixed.

It is behaving that way because you have already manipulated her natural instinctive behavior by using chemicals to neutralize her..
