My beautiful Dixie died 9 months ago. I miss her so bad I cry sometimes. Today I am missing her and went to the shelter I adopted her from and donated cat toys, food, and money. While I was there I played with the cutest kitties and wished I could take them all home. It was so sad the way they all tried for my attention like they knew I could spring them and give them a home. I have 5 gorgeous cats still so I can't get another. Now I want to hold Dixie so bad my arms hurt. I love all my cats but with her it was like I had given birth to her myself. Does it ever get better? Will you hug your kitty while you can? I sure wish I could.

Red but not bloody, she had round worms a month ago but shes taken all her meds for it. She is spayed, shes also been coughing latley. Her stomach is also making a sound that kinda sounds like a growling, like when a person is hungry. I just changed her food cause her other food was giving her gas.

My cat hella started balding, and now there is a huge bald patch on his lower back ...

& whats worse..... Every time I pet him there, his starts licking the air, matter of fact, he licks ANYTHING around until you stop petting him.

Sometimes I pet "too hard" and he turns and bites me. His hair feels really thin, almost like there is a layer of dander preventing hair growth. Ewww....

WTF is wrong with him? Is there any shampoo or medicine I can get for him? I fear its unhealthy, and its really unattractive.

My cat I've had for about a year has all of a sudden started hissing, growling, and screaming for no apparent reason. My mom had brought a small, unfamiliar kitten into the house for a couple hours, and the cat is always uncomfortable around kittens, so I thought that may have had something to do with it. But the kitten has been gone for more than a day now!
Besides, we have brought other cats into the house before and she's never reacted like this. She'll just sit in the corner making all these noises at no one/nothing. If you go over and try to pet her, she freaks out even worse. All night long she was waking everyone up with her screaming. I have no idea what's going on. We called the vet and no one has called us back. Unfortunately, we can't really afford to take her in...please help!!

My 12 yrs old kitty had mouth surgery a few months ago. He starting having trouble again and had emergency surgery last week. The first day he walked around (drugs helped), but now he does not move. We have to change him sides once in a while. We put the litter by him and he had a difficult time walking. He complainted out of pain. It seemed as one of his back leg does not work properly and his tail spins so fast to keep his half balance. He doesn't have much balance. We brought him to the vet and they told me he is recovering. It has been a week. He does not move, he moves his eyes and goes to the little once a day. He will not move to eat or drink. and if we pet him on his back legs or all his paws he crys

Thank you

Someone once told me that all gingers are always Toms, and that torties are always Queens, with only very occasional exceptions. Just out of interest, is this true?

Hello all! I want to buy my kitten a cat tree for her first Christmas. She has tons of energy to burn and I think she'd love it. I even took her to the pet store one day and I allowed her to frolic on one and she had a ball.
My questions are for those of you who bought one....after your kitten "grew up", did they still play on it? Was it worth the money?
I'd like to buy her a nice one (and those are pricey) but I cannot see myself spending a king's ransom for something she's only going to like/use for a few months.
Even if you haven't bought one and know someone who has I'd appreciate your thoughts and stories too! Oh. And if you thought about a tree but went with another large toy, what did you purchase? Does your cat like it?
Thank you!

I have a female miniature schnauzer named Missy that we've had for around 3-4 years. She's my baby, spending every night in my room and pretty much following me wherever I go.

And then there's my stepsister's cat, Tiger, that is a 9 year-old orange tabby. She's not a bad cat, but she needlessly attacks Missy and injures her commonly.

I was typing in my room when, all of a sudden, I hear a screeching yelp, and my dog comes dashing in my room with a sliced nose. My sister was watching, and evidently Tiger wandered up to where my dog was sleeping and striked, following her taking of the spot to sleep on herself.

I about killed the damn cat.

Of course, my stepsister's dad refuses to get rid of, or even discipline the cat, though my stepsister is never around hardly to care for it.

Pretty much the case; i take care of the cat, and she attacks my dog.

What do I do?

I am so upset. After trying to wait until she was out of heat we decided to go ahead and do the spay. We paid the extra money for pre-op bloodwork and everything came out perfect. She went through the surgery fine, woke up afterwards and was walking around, and then when the vet went in to check on her a little later, she wasn't breathing and they weren't able to bring her back.
I don't know what to do. I feel so terrible. I had such a bad feeling about the spay, I didn't want to do it while she was in heat but it was either do it now or wait until after the 18th of January, due to the holidays and travel.
Our vet was very sympathetic. She wrote off all costs and even offered to out of pocket to have her cremated if we wanted. I know she feels horrible that this happened, and she's a wonderful vet, so I know this didn't happen because of negligence.
I'm just trying to make sense of it. I wish I knew what happened, but I'll never know. Why could it have happened? What can I do?

He's about 4 1/2 - 5 months old, and I rescued him from a burning car in a junk yard when he was pretty much first born. He's never seemed to really be playing with a "full deck of cards" but he's an awesome kitten. He is very smart and seems to do everything the dogs do, but he will NOT stay out of Christmas tree! It's a fake one and really expensive and hes breaking the branches and chewing the wires. We squirt him and firmly yell NO when he's in it and then we crate him. Unfortunately he is just not learning. So any cat experts advice would be wonderful!
and I don't want to hear anything from any of you A holes telling me to just beat the creature or any of that crap because i'll hunt you down and BEAT YOU

Thanks : )

Hes not damaging anything. Its just weird. Hell go up to the Glass sliding door, stare at it, then get up on his hind legs and start scratching it up and down really fast, then my other neutered male cat will run towards him and attack him and theyll wrestle. Does anyone know why hes doing that? Its funny to watch, since hes not destroying anything, but ive never heard of or seen a cat do that! Thanks everyone! =)

the cat will come into the bedroom late at night when I am up laying in my bed thinking about personal issues, and meows as he jumbs on my bed, and then lays on my chest to be petted and begins to purr. Do others have a similiar experience with their cats, that their cats seem to know when their owners need conforting themselves?

I just got to work and my coworker saw it first. Its so sad. I'm just wondering do I call animal control? Or sanitation? I feel like something should be done, especially if it was someones companion and possibly has the identity chip. Thanks in advance for any help!

He's been to 3 vets; his original vet, the emergency vet (catheter and IV fluids) and now a surgical specialist vet for the perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery. All three Dr's has said his BUN and Creatinine levels were abnormally high as well as his potassium level. They also said it's too soon to know if he has kidney failure. He's on Lasixs and Baytril as well as KD wet/dry food. Today before the surgery dr. had re-tested his levels and said it has lowered but not normal and will proceed with the surgery. Would like to know if anyone has been through this similar situation. My cat is 5 yrs old and is 19lbs.
