My 12 yrs old kitty had mouth surgery a few months ago. He starting having trouble again and had emergency surgery last week. The first day he walked around (drugs helped), but now he does not move. We have to change him sides once in a while. We put the litter by him and he had a difficult time walking. He complainted out of pain. It seemed as one of his back leg does not work properly and his tail spins so fast to keep his half balance. He doesn't have much balance. We brought him to the vet and they told me he is recovering. It has been a week. He does not move, he moves his eyes and goes to the little once a day. He will not move to eat or drink. and if we pet him on his back legs or all his paws he crys

Thank you

the vet probably thought it was recovering, have you called since the first inital symptoms? because any vet that tells you after a day that not walking is simply recovery is not worth his salt..

Call the vet immediately.. tel lhim what is going on.. if you already have, then get that cat to another vet. 12 while older, your cat could still have years left to live, and needs treatment..

and if he hasn't eaten in three days then chances are you have a whole new set of problems, such as hepatic lipidosis.. and the cat REALLY needs to be seen by a professional for treatment.

this happened to my mothers kitten. While injecting the antibiotic the vet might have hit the sciatic nerve in his leg. It could take anything from a week to months for the leg to recover completely. I would go back to the vet or find a second opinion.

Sounds like you may need a 2nd opinion. Go to a different clinic and have a new vet evaluate your cat. They may notice something that your current vet is overlooking.

Did the vet not give you any pain medications for the cat? Sounds like your poor cat is in a lot of pain, and that shouldn't be the case.

I think you definitely need a second opinion. A cat who is recovering should not still be in that much pain.
