At first I thought my cat ate my thread because I am a quilter. A few seconds later that "thread" ended up moving like its a worm! Help! What can I do? Buy a dewormer or take her to the vet? I have two 4 month old kittens (cats).

Get this cat to a vet to be professionally dewormed. She has a very bad infestation of worms if she is vomiting them up. If you check her out when she is asleep, you may well find some of them hanging outside her anus.

When you take her to be wormed, take up her belongings, most especially her bed or pads that she likes to sleep on, and wash them in hot water with bleach.

If she is an indoor-outdoor cat, check with your vet after he has dewormed her, regarding follow-up. Most indoor-outdoor cats are pretty consistently exposed to worms, and you should dose them regularly. As your vet if there is an OTC preparation you can use as a regular wormer, or if he can give you something you just give your cat at intervals your vet would recommend.

But if she vomited up a worm, the worm is the reason she vomited. She has such a bad infestation in her intestines that the worms have moved into her stomach. When you feed her at this point, you are feeding a worm farm. This is a bad infestation, and you really should get her to the vet for a dose of the real stuff.

Good luck.

Worms for sure.

Go to the vet and get a dewormer for all your cats.
Try and keep a sample for the vet to examine.
Also give the litter box, food and water dishes a good sterilising clean lest you want re-infection of said felines.

Just so you know, it sounds like round worms to me also.
Round worms over time can cause blockages in the G.I tract through sheer infestation so get it attended to in a reasonable time.

Coming up in vomit is typically roundworms ( tapeworms come out the other end in segments) best bet is to get a wormer from your vet ( pet shop stuff is rubbish)

It is a tapeworm. You should call your vet and ask them about it. If it is just a matter of buying something, you can probably pick it up from them. Different worms require different medicines. You will have to treat both, because if one has it, the other has it too.

Until then, be sure to wash your hands after handling your cat or the litter box. People can catch tapeworms too.

call the vet and see if they will give you some dewormer without a visit. but it wouldn't hurt to have your cat examined

Your cat probably has heart worms. Take your pet to the Vet immediately.
