I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. When my cat Abbie died about 5 years ago, I hated it when people said 'well its only a cat', to me all my cats are part of my family. I know exactly how you feel when you say she was like your child, I love all my cats, but Gizmo is my baby. His Mum gave birth to him on my sofa - and he was the runt of the litter and needed extra care. From day one he's been a mummys boy (me being his mummy). He hates being apart from me - I lay propped up in bed typing this - with him draped across my chest!!!
The pain will recede I promise you, and you'll be able to remember her with a smile instead of tears. I send a hug to you and your kitties x(((x)))) from me and my moggies

Aww, I am so sorry... While reading at what you wrote, I felt like I was going to cry because I really felt what you were saying and thought of myself and my cats... me in that same situation when my kitties are gone... and what am I going to do... I always think about that, can't help it though I try not to think much. I know they someday will have to go and I hope I will be strong enough when that moment comes. I can't imagine my life without them and I put myself in your shoes and, though none of my cats died yet, fortunately, believe me I know how you feel and I am very sorry for you. What you did at the shelter was nice, both taking some toys, donating money and other stuff for the kitties and share some time with them... If I were you, I would have surely done the same thing. I love cats so much and every time I see one in the streets I want so much to take them home with me... but I can't either, not yet at least.
I really wish you the best and hope you get over it soon. I know it's not easy but try, think positively. Think of the good times with your Dixie and smile. It will get better, don't worry. And answering to your last question: without a doubt. I hug my kitties every day and will do that until they are gone. And when they are gone, though I won't be able to hug them physically, I will hug them with my heart. Dixie knows you love her! And you can't see her, but she's always there at your side and will always be. Cheer up! Go hug your other kitties and tell them how much you love them. Best of lucks!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Is that her in your avatar? She was a pretty girl. It's so beautiful that you donated toys and food to the shelter, a wonderful way to remember your baby.
It will get better, I'm sure. You will soon be able to think of her without tears in your eyes and with fondness for the love you knew. But your other kitties need you; I'm sure they miss their friend Dixie, too. Give those wonderful kitties lots of love; they need it, too.
And after I read this, I did give my 16-year-old kitty a little hug.

Thank you for sharing this touching story. I know how hard it is, I lost a cat that I had for nearly 18 yrs and he died going on about 10 yrs ago now....I still miss him. It gets easier each day, just care for your kitties you have and play with them like you would have your beautiful Dixie.
Take care.

It takes a lot of time. I still miss my cat, Frisky.
She always slept on my lap or on my bed.
She purred non-stop.
She was mine. My new cat, Olive is wonderful and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world but I miss her.
She was mine. She loved me. She and I just belonged together. I keep thinking of getting another but I know I just don't have the time or attention needed for another.
Time is supposed to heal all wounds. It's just hard at this time of the year. You miss all the things and people that aren't in your life anymore. I hope you feel better. You have 5 beautiful cats and they must love you. They all look so happy in their pictures. Just remember that you loved Dixie and gave her a good home and friendship. Try to remember the good. All my best.

That's so sad.
I have one that I feel is my soul mate, maybe how you felt about Dixie. I can't imagine how I will feel when i lose her... :(
Here's a video on you tube that may help ease the pain a little, and help getting a different perspective:

Hope you will find more peace in your heart.

You're making ME cry! I lost MY baby, Myles Standish, just a few weeks ago to feline leukemia. He was only a year old, and we had to put him to sleep. I miss him so much--he had the best personality, and was just a doll. I can sympathize--I keep stumbling across things that belonged to him or things he stole from us (he loved to steal my keys!) Someone abandoned him on our road on Thanksgiving 2006, as an adorable little kitten. We fell in love with him, and he was such a sweet, sweet little guy...it is heartbreaking when you lose a kitty like that. So, HUGS to you...HUGS to my remaining kitty...and HUGS to all of the kitties out there that don't have someone to hug them!

Thats the way my wife and I are about are first cat(Tumbleweed) she died two years ago.We found her abandoned about a week after we got married,She wasnt completly weaned and I would have to get up early(3 am) to feed her.She was the only cat I ever knew, that would love to play fetch and drop the ball at you feet. She also thought she was more human than a cat.We have three others,Tigger,Taz,and Tennis shoe, and each one has its own personality,We miss Tumbleweed all the time though. The stinkin little white fuzz ball that she was.

I'm so sorry. I have 7 cats myself and always worry about them because they're outdoor cats. I lost my baby Whiskers to a car accident. A week before that happened, he had a jaw operation. When I picked up his body, the wire sticking out of his jaw brushed against my hand. That's why I couldn't get over the accident for months. I know exactly how you're feeling. I'm thankful for my 7 angels that make me happy and warm. Cherish the time you have with your precious kitties.Take lots of pictures. It always warms my heart when I go back to Whiskers's pictures.

I cannot imagine my life without my baby bear, Athlon. I can see myself in your situation if Athlon was taken from me. Its healthy to be feeling like that. Its an example of what true love is. Hold on to the good memories. You still have 5 gorgeous cats that would love a chance to be part of your heart, so create new memories with them. You're doing great so far hun. We need more people like you. Keep shining >.<
