My cat and gerbils are going through flea treatment right now, and I have to eliminate fleas in the house as well. I would like advice on which home-spray product to use. PLEASE do not take a shot in the dark at this, this is very important and it needs to work and be safe for my cat and gerbils.

I only say this because a few years ago, my cousin had a flea infestation and she bought some flea remedy to spray around her home and it made her cat really sick. I don't know exactly what happened, but I don't need/want that happening to my pets.

Oh, and also, don't criticise me for my pets having fleas. We've only had this cat for a short while and I guess the flea larva were on her, otherwise we would've seen them earlier. She jumps on the gerbil cage and that is how they were transmitted, but now they are placed in completely different rooms and the gerbils are definitely out of reach. (I only added that because people are rude on here and tend to assume.)

I just don't get people that hate cats and say that they are useless and dumb!! Cats are just as smart as dogs, but they just don't want to listen to you!! Why are there cat-haters out there?

Okay, well, I have a cat that my brother gave to us before he went off to Iraq becuase his wife was pregnant. SO anyways, we took him in, and he was a really really nice cat, but he was HUGE! he's a little smaller than a cocker spaniel and bigger than a beagle. He weighs 25-27 pounds and sitting up straight hes almost 2 feet tall. Wow. If he stands on his hinds legs, he can look over the kitchen counter. Well, we look it up and he resembles a lynx or bobcat, lynxs are smaller so i think hes half. Is that possible? Hes really big, and we've had some freak accidnets. If you get him mad, he'll start growling and hissing then strike like one time i was all in his face with a hat on and he bit my face and ripped it open, his big side teeth are about and inch long, and then another time i was walkng down the stairs and lhe was fighting thru the glass door with the neigbor cat, and he saw me out of the corner of his eye and bit my foot and it was so deep i couldnt even walk.

My cat is 2-1/2 years old we got her from anti cruelty when she was 5mon, she is always scared & running away, if you walk by her she runs, she won't go on any thing high, couches or beds!! "Which I like", her liter box is in the bathrm she knows where it is, but at the same time if someone is in the bathrm she urines on the throw rug! Why? the bathrm is never close for a long time, and I know she did it when no one was in the bathrm, Her behavior is weird, she is not sick I had her checked. But to me she is acting like she don't trust us, scared of us, at the same time she never showed any anger at us, never bit or scratched any one, at times mostly night, I do see her playing, but she won't play during the day, she is to busy trying not to get in our way, she will brush up against me, but if I move my leg fast she will run away!!! I really don't feel like I have a pet at times she never interacts with the kids, I am the one she shows some what attention to, Why is she like this?

her mouth is burnt black, white and blistered.
She can't eat or drink and I have been forcing water into her.
She is starting to smell like rotten meat and I don't want her to die.
My financial situation is in a place where i can't afford a vet.
I was told to give her penacillin to fight off infection.....are there any more suggestions to help her?

He has always had personality issues, but seems to be getting worse. He is not very social, does not like to be held - but will look deceitfully loveable while lying on his back relaxing across the room. He has always hissed at anyone that does not live in the house when they visit. He also starts wheezing, when visitors stay too long, and then starts vomiting.
I have 5 grandchildren, who only come every now and then; and we usually put the cat up in a bedroom out of the way until they leave. However, the other morning after my 18 month old spent the night, the cat was still out; and when the baby walked by the cat growled a terrible sounding growl, and my granddaughter was terrified.
I actually contemplated the necessity of putting my cat down after that, as it frightened me also - wondering if the cat would have done something had I not been standing right there. I think the cat is acting out of fear; but I'm not sure.
He also poops outside of litterbox 85% of the time.

My father told my mom to put advantage on the cats shoulderblades. I wasn't in the room to make her realize that that would be a bad idea, because obviously cats can turn around and lick themselves.

I'm wondering if Advantage is poisonous?
If it is should I give him a quick bath?
We already wiped it off his fur with wet paper towels but I'm not sure if that is enough.

What is the cost to put my cat to sleep? Is it possible that it could be free? (Please indicate the currency type you're using like US$ or CAN$)

My cat is very very very sick (vet thinks dry FIP or cancer), he is syringe fed, wobbles to the point where he falls over to his side, smells like urine because he can't use the litter box probably due to the wobbliness, bathing him makes him very stressful, and he's very lethargic.

He does try to wobble towards me when I'm preparing his food or try to come to me when I'm on the bed (he can't jump, so he just meow and I pick him up). I pick him up to walk him around the house, let him look outside the window, or for a change of scenery.

I think it's now time to put him to sleep. I tried my best to help him but he just got worst. And I love him very much.

Answers, comments, etc....are appreciated.
Thanks :)

Our cat just died, and there was a yellowish puddle near her mouth but appeared to have come from her nose, she was a fat cat but there weren't any signs of heart failure. I would just like to know what happened. Thank you.

I went to Petsmart yesterday and I cried when I saw the cats for sale, is that normal? I have 2 cats of my own and I cant have anymore and I get real emotional when I see cats for sale or even if I see a cat walking down the street, I wonder if it has a home and if it is safe. Why do I get so emotional?

I just had my 6 month old siamese kitten spayed and vaccinated this past Saturday. Initially when I brought her home from the vet she was frightened and hid underneath my bed. She came about out an hour later. The rest of the weekend she seemed to be in considerable discomfort (but I was told not to giver her Tylenol or aspirin by the vet). In addition, she's not eating AT ALL, my own mom had to force feed her. I'm extremely worried because I dont want her to get sick or be in any more discomfort. I'm thinking about buying her some kitten milk (from Petco) and keep force feeding her so that she can heal properly and not get weak. I dont want her to starve to death. Please HELP!

So due to home foreclosing for six months my husband and I had to sublet an apartment while we got back on our feet. When this happened we had two INDOOR cats. My husband's mother offered to let them stay with them for the last few months and we told her not to let them outside as we didn't want them to be outdoor cats and she said ok. Well just like she always did she didn't listen to us and never even lets them inside but to eat (she says because they 'wanted' outside and its mean to make them stay inside)- my female cat sleeps outside. My cats have been back home for a week now and are GOING crazy not being able to go outside- they wont stop screaming and scratching at the door and are so pissed; I live on a highway and don't want them to get ran over. Any tips on what do to- my husband thinks they need a new home where they can go outside because they will never get over it. But I have hope....

We saw a sign that said "free kittens" yesterday and it was very sad. We took one home. She appeared clean, but today, I picked her up and saw fleas on her belly. There were at least 5 or 6 that I could see, but I never saw fleas before. I bathed her in flea shampoo, put a collar on her and my other two cats (fyi: I never let my cats outside at all), sprayed the sofa, rugs and bedding with household spray by Hartz, and I'm washing all my bedding (the cat slept on my bed last night). Maybe this is overkill, as the cat has been home with us for only about 24 hours, but I know nothing about this! Did I do enough, and if not, any suggestions? I have hardwood floors through most of the house and plan on vacuuming/mopping tonight (was going to do this anyway).

She's getting old and does not look like a "Sugar" to me anymore. "Salty" fits her look and personality much better. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

What do you think?

Have you ever changed your cat's name before? If so did it work?

My cat has a little lump in her stomach. she just got it, i've never felt it before when i would pet her. she's been sweeter than usual. my "friend" told me it was because she knows shes going to die. great friend right? but my mom said it could be because shes about to go into heat and it could possibly go away.
whats wrong? =/
