I went to Petsmart yesterday and I cried when I saw the cats for sale, is that normal? I have 2 cats of my own and I cant have anymore and I get real emotional when I see cats for sale or even if I see a cat walking down the street, I wonder if it has a home and if it is safe. Why do I get so emotional?

I can't even watch those Humane Society commercials without bawling like my child died. I cry at Petsmart too. I went to the pound to rescue a kitten and cried for 2 weeks at what I saw there. I'd love to save them all. Glad you have a tender heart. More folks need to.

I too have cried when I have thought of all the homeless pets and mistreated animals that are out there. You get emotional because you have a very deep love and concern for them - it is not a bad trait, don't beat yourself up about it.

If it is any consolation, the cats at Petsmart are not technically "for sale" - they are not adding to the pet overpopulation problem. It is an adoption program run by Petsmart to help find good homes for the all the homeless cats out there.

There are still ways you can help even when you can't take any more animals. You can donate to humane societies and shelters or shop at and donate items to their supporting thrift stores. Also, be an advocate! Educate people about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.

Give your kitties some extra loving, and feel good knowing that at least they have a good home!

The reason you cry so much is that you love them so much and hate to see them alone. I feel the same way. I hate when I see a cat in a parking lot at a hospital or mall parking lot. I know someone probably dropped the cat off and that really makes me cry! People think if they drop them off someone will get them but nine times out of ten they end up dead on the road or starve. That is enough to make anyone cry that has a good heart! You have a good heart!

I'm the same way. I go into Petsmart and want to take all of the kitties home. Unfortunatley, my husband thinks that our one cat is plenty. We were at my mother and father in laws house the other day and I saw a black cat walking around their pool, meowing. I felt so bad for it, and tried to go outside to feed it, but it took off :(

I am the same way. I used to bring kittens/cats home when I was little, and my mom made me stop.

I feel horrible for the cats in Petsmart... but they are going to be adopted, and get a lovely homeowner.

You get emotional because you feel like the cats want to leave the store and they are so sad and are treated bad. and when you see one on the street you think it's maybe homeless or not safe and you just want to keep it and make it a nice home. Don't worry about it.. it's very nomal to cry about the cats. your just very caring and a good owner and you love cats.you just don't want to leave them

Good Luck

That happens to me all the time. Im a huge animal lover looking to go into the vet field. I have a cat and have trouble paying for her sometimes. I can't afford another one either. The best thing that we can do is donate money!!

Probably cos you just love cats. There's nothing wrong with crying but if you think that it's starting to get out of hand, get some help.

hi fellow cat lover! i love cats too, and i wish i could adopt all of them. but rememeber that they will probably get adopted if they're in Petsmart, and those cats on the street have tons of kitty friends and family (trust me i know).
