Is she trying to dominate your hand?

It's actually a sign of affection if it's a soft bite and not a vicious one. It's called a love bite. My mom's cat does this all the time but never swipes with her paws or tries to clamp down on your hand and really hurt you.

They should wash your hand first so it isn't dirty when they bite it. Also if a cat rolls over for you to pet their belly they will not only bite you but wrap paws around your hand and kick you with all four paws. This is just an evil cat trick they don't mean any harm.
