ok so me and my mom have always wanted a cat, i personally have wanted one since i was little now im 14 and i asked again and she said it was up to my dad but here is the catch my dad doesnt like cats one bit. so since he doesnt like them and thats the only reason im not allowed to have a cat.I know this doesnt rally matter to my problem but my friend just got a cat and her dad doesnt like them but once they got a cat he loves them. so how can i convince my dad that cats arent "evil"?

I'm pregnant with my first child and have 4 cats. I have been around cats ALL my life. If I hear one more ignorant a*s*s* tell me I MUST NOT clean cat litter pans or I MUST get rid of my cats because they will hurt a baby I will just scream!!! How do I educate people to the realities of life with cats???

TRUTH: people who have been around cats or who do gardening have been exposed to soil-borne illness (toxoplasmosis) and have antibodies. There is little to 0 risk in handling cats or litter boxes. Still paranoid? Wear gloves.

TRUTH: cats do NOT steal babies' breath or sit on babies' faces or smother babies to get at the milk. Anyone concerned ever hear of a closed door?

PLEASE folks help me combat the stupidity. My co-workers and even some people I called friends seem appalled that I am keeping my cats!!!

If not long ones, maybe just short jaunts around town? I ask because I have thought about it and coming home from vacation this past weekend i saw a few cars on the road that had sleeping cats that were loose in the car & thought to give it a try.

Hello. 3 nights ago a wonderful cat appeared in my front window outside. since then i have went outside to visit it and know he is a boy cat and he is so friendly. he even sleeps outside my bedroom window sill like he's watching over me.

my husband is already annoyed with this cat. he said to trap it or take down some road to get rid of it. i am not cruel like that and it makes me mad that he is. i really feel like i should help this cat. i really don't want anything to happen to this cat. i don't why i feel like that. i have had many cats in my life, feral and domesticated but i feel drawn to this animal for some reason.

what would you do? would you just let it wander around or is there a way to keep it safe and comfortable ouside without spending a fortune? even though i don't really know this animal i do not want anything to happen to it. i have a garage but i don't know how that would be for the cat. all i know is that i definitely want to help it regardless...

My neighbors found this cute little kitten and I went to go hold it. The next day they took it to the doctor to get it checked out and they said it had a lung disease and could have rabies. Then i just remembered that the other day when i held this cat I held my cat right after and didnt wash my hands. This morning my cat wasnt acting quite normal and it was two days ago that this happened. What are the signs of my cat being sick? she seemed kind of lazy today and he eyes are a bit droopy. please help

So my little bengal went in to get spayed yesterday.
My vet called me to come get her just after noon because she wouldn't settle down in the cage and was being really destructive, she was worried she'd her herself.

before she shaved her belly she felt a bump or something, but went ahead.. when she opened her up she said there were enlarged lymph nodes or something like that. she didn't want to take a sample because Roxy is still pretty small and she didn't want her to bleed. She checked her intestines and they're okay. she said once she's healed, we'll get some virus checks and what not.

my question is.... has anyone ever experienced this before? i'm not really even sure what they are, but she said it could be Irritable bowel syndrome (as we've been having a lot of problems with poop since day one)
what are other possibilities? if it were leukemia would i notice signs already?
she's still gaining weight, eating, and her poop is a lot better too! no idea..
thanks everyone!!

I will be away for a 10-day visit, and I couldn't find anybody to look after my one-year-old female cat. Also her veterinary told me that she will be staying in her cage for 10-days if I choose to leave her to him:( I really don't want to put my cat on such a trouble because she is a very independent cat, and also highly emotional! Another choice is to leave her at home with a sufficient amount of food and water and let her walk through all the rooms and balcony. But again, I am worried if she can make it for such a long time!? And if she fells left alone and get depressed? What do you think? What is the best among these choices?

theres alot of blood in my kittens poop, as soon as the vet opens in the morning, hes going straight there, and i checked and cant find any 24/7 emergency places around, or id take him right now.
over the last couple days he's had diarea(idk how to spell that)
i thought it was just him adjusting to the formula, anyways i went in to feed him and get him cleaned up, when i went to wipe him there was blood around his butt, so i cleaned him up and got him to eat a little, when i put him down he started going poop so i picked him up, to put him in his carrier till he was done, but when i picked him up i noticed a big drop of blood,so i looked and it was like watery blood coming out, more blood then anything though, so i cleaned him up, but until i can get him in to the vet i need some advice. on how to keep him more comfortable, and if theres any thing i can do to ease any pain he might be feeling. so any helpful suggestions would really help right now

I was just laying down about to sleep when I heard my two male cats fighting and the younger one crying alot. They fought and I came out in my living room to discover a good amount of thick red blood on the floor with blood footprints all over the house. I looked at both cats and saw no wounds. I dont know if the cat swallowed something but i am scared. I felt like I was cleaning a crime scene, please help!

Has anyone else had this problem? We had our cat fixed before he was 6 months old.

He is now 2 years old. He just recently started wanting to go out at night and chase the female cats. He is getting into fights and is mating. What is the deal?

i heard that there is a shot that will get rid of your cats fleas at vets. my carpet recently had a flea problem so no cat is allowed inside. how much would it cost for that shot? (i have 8 cats).

I've noticed that my cat eats so many bugs. He's outside most of the time and at night I often notice this. He sits on the mat outside of our front porch and there's a big light there so all othe moths and other bugs crowd around in there. He's a pure hunter just swatting moths, those big male mosquitos, and anything else he can get his hands on.

Into his mouth they go and you get that nice wonderful crunching noise as he feasts upon moths.

Is this healthy? Is it just something tasty to him which will give him some extra calories in addition to his cat food?

Thanks.

That afternoon I was cleaning the garage. And I saw a cat hiding under a B.B.Q pit. It was staying there for 3 days. The forth day, the cat deliver 3 kittens. I gave them bread and water. After eating, I went to check, and they are gone. Then, why is the cat hiding there? Is it trying to deliver kittens thats why it keep hiding there for 3 days? Question is, stray cats deliver their babies in a hiding spot?

I recently found a stray kitten sleeping in my parents back yard.. it cant be more than a month old and I adopted it into my home.. She has been here for 3 days and she is such a good cat.. uses the litter box and all.. BUT.. she has a very bad dry cough.. I have an older cat and she has never had a hair ball or a bad cough.. the cough has been going on since I have taken her in.. Should i be worried? Or could it be the clean air or is there something stuck in her throat? I have no idea what to do but i want to make sure she is ok...

Recently I found an abandoned kitten on the road and decided to take him in. Currently I take him out for play occassionaly but have him in my dog's pet carrier [ quite large ] for most of the day. But recently I've noticed cuts and scarring on his paws and pieces of litter stuck to it. I want to put vaseline on his paws but im afriad he'll lick it. What type of litter do you reccommend I use? How can I treat his paws? What other things can I do?

Is there such a thing? our neighbors cat came back from the vet after being bitten by other cats, and the neighbors said the Vet told them the cat has 1 to 12 years to live, and has Feline Aids..

Is there such a thing? should we make the cat "disappear" for our safety?

My old man Russian Blue cat (name Boo) is nearly dead from old age. We plan on burying him in the yard, and need to know what would be better to keep wild animals/other cats/etc. from digging the remains. Mothballs or lime or....something else?
