My mother had a very similar situation happen to her recently. Mom told her vet about it when she took the dogs in for their shots and she asked my mom to bring him in so that she could check him out. The cat was so sweet that the vet decided to keep him as an office pet. So now he's fixed, has all of his shots and a good home. You may want to check and see if there is a no kill animal rescue shelter in your area and take him there. Best of luck to you!

I would keep the cat and get rid of the husband.
Definitely feed him and provide a dish of clean water. If you think he belongs to someone and got lost, you could check with a local animal shelter to see if anyone reported a lost pet in your area. Also, check for signs advertising a lost cat in your neighborhood. If you think no one is missing him, you should have him checked out by a vet to make sure he's healthy. Then you can work on convincing your husband to let you adopt him.
By the way, do NOT advertise that you found a cat. Sometimes unscrupulous people will answer those ads.
Good luck!

I would wonder about the husband!
Otherwise, I would start by taking the cat to the vet, depending on if you can catch it or not you may need to borrow a trap. At the vet, you can find out if it's microchipped, if it's neutered, and you can give it booster shots.
It sounds like this is a semi-feral cat, so keeping it in a garage probably won't work. Feeding it would though! Talk to the vet.
If money is an issue, there are low-cost neuter/shots clinics out there.

In this heat I would start first by giving him some water!! And maybe some cat food.
Personally I would take the cat in and adopt it myself (after first checking that he wasn't someone else's cat).
How did you ever get hooked up with such an inhumane man? He must be very immature to feel threatened or annoyed by something so innocuous as a little cat hanging around outside. Dump him, keep the cat!

Sounds like the cat has adopted you. Give the cat some food and water and let it be where it is. Start calling it by a name so he gets used to your voice. In time, he will be comfortable enough to be anywhere you put him. Hopefully, your hubby will come around. Don't worry about it being outside. It sounds as if he is very comfortable where he is now. Good luck.

I am all about helping animals when I can. I hate to see any animal suffer because of someone who thought they could support the animals needs, but in turn, decide to just dump it down the road and expect it to fend for itself. I really do hope that you take care of the cat. It will not kill anyone (mainly your husband) if you offer food and shelter to the cat. I say take care of the cat. It will make you feel good and will be good for him.

I can understand the bond you have with this cat. I only saw my cat at the pound for a couple of minutes and I fell in love with her. Give it food and water and also a place to sleep. You can get cat mats that are soft for it to sleep on. My cat is outdoors and she loves it. You may let it sleep in the garage when the weather is too cold or maybe too hot. It seems like it already thinks of your place as home and it loves you already.

I love taking care of needy cats! You might have to move slowly with it since it might not be so keen on indoor living. Try starting to feed it. Then, wrap an old pillow in a plushy towel for a bed, and of course, you might want to start inviting him in once in a while so he starts getting used to things. Make sure to introduce him to other cats you may have. If your husband is insistent on not keeping him, take him to the humane society where he might have a good chance of being adopted out!

if you can't keep him, take him to a no kill shelter where they will fix him, and adopt him out to a nice home. if you don't feel comfortable with that there are some foundations out there that will pay for the cat to get fixed then you can release him again and there won't be as many stray cats. take care of that cat, he seems to have chosen you. good luck

Dear New Cat Owner (LOL)
If you're sure it's a stray, adopt it. So when does your husband have all the say as to what you can have. You obviously have special feelings for this cat and he may develop some too if he gives it a chance.
