it probably needs the comfort and the warmth that you provide, kittens should be with their mother till they are 8-12 weeks old.

A five week old kitten is a little young to be taken away from it's mother so soon. It hasn't had enough time to wean away from it's mother. Assuming the kitten is healthy, it may need your body heat to maintain it's own body temperature while it sleeps. You can try putting a heating pad underneath a heavy towel and see if the kitten will rest there. Otherwise, you'll just have to be patient until the kitten gets a little bigger and will sleep on her/his own.

It's a kitten for goodness sake! You're telling us that this cat physically overpowers you and sits on you while it sleeps and you can't do anything? I know it's hard when they cry but shut it in another room at night (or whenever you sleep) and soon it will get used to it and settle down (5 weeks is way to early for a kitten to have left it's mother anyway, 6 is the absolute minimum, although most vets recommend at least 8). Good luck.

It would be safer for the kitten and healthier for you to have the kitten sleep elsewhere. What if you rolled over on the kitten in the middle of the night? You could get your kitten a nice kitty bed and put her in the bed in another room. Then shut your door. Make sure the bed is in a nice warm, quiet spot. Maybe when kitty is older it will learn to respect your "space".

Well, what have you tried? A 5 week old kitten is young to be away from it's mom and that's what it's looking for. Have you given the kitten another warm location to sleep at night? Have you bothered to close the door to your bedroom? Yes, I know it'll meow for a while, but so long as you provide a nice warm place to cuddle (and show her where it is when she's tired) and don't allow her near you when your sleeping she should learn quickly where to go.

Aw, enjoy it while it lasts, she'll outgrow it. It's really sweet. She is really very young to be away from her mom and litter, so she wants the body heat and the bonding with you instead, for now. Let her sleep with you and in another month or so, start leaving her out of the room or putting her out after a while (although you might not want to by then!)

If it doesnt have a mom or brothers and sisters, hes just trying to snuggle and keep warm. 5 weeks is to young to be by its self(if it is) Kittens need to stay with mom until there 8-12 wks of age. Anyway I would have to say to just let him do it! Good Luck!

the kitten misses her mother and needs to feel a heartbeat. I you take an old clock that ticks and wrap it in a towel and put the kitten near it, it will help. Also be sure the kitten is in a warm place.

We have 2 kittens who are now 6 months old. When our little girl (Isabella) was littler she wouldn't sleep anywhere but with me at night or when I was home, it didn't matter if it was on my stomach or my head, she had to be with me. Now that's gotten a little older, she's started to grow out of it. I would just give it time, eventually it will become independent enought to want to be by itself.

If you're worried about rolling over on her, get a fluffy towel or soft blanket and fold it up so it can lay next to you. She'll likely curl up there. Or around your head. It's comforting for cats to sleep laying up against someone so they feel safe, especially kittens.
It's been 16 years and one of mine STILL sleeps around my head at night, every night.
