For one is it ear mites?
Are they old enough to use the flushed out stuff
Can we get bite or anything?

it could be mites or yeast..you can treat it at home..i had the meds from the vet and paid a good dime for it..didnt work..my vet tech friend suggested one part vinegar to two parts water...squirt some in the ears..dont let them shake their head...and dry them out with cotton balls..do it everyday..it will clear up in no time..you should also treat the other cat as well you wont get bit..they are nasty and every time you treat them for the mites..they bite into their ears which is why they cry and ..and they itch..get them some relief soon

Ok well if it is ear mites the best way to tell is this. Is the brown stuff caked up on top like a pileall around the ear. And second you wount get bitten. And third if it is ear mites you will have to remove all the bedding that the ear mites live in and get the ear mite solution from you vet. But let me warn you it is a painful task for the cat. Ripping ear mite beds out of the ear is painful. Take her to the vet asap.

If the ears are crusty, and the cat is itching badly, more than likely it is ear mites. We have used a solution of water and alcohol on our kitten and cleaned the ears out real well as I flushed them, and Chester's mites seem to have cleared up. He is not digging anymore, and his ears seem to be cleaning up alot. I used more alcohol than water in my mixture, but not so much that it burned any scratches he had in the ears. When I was done flushing and cleaning out the ears, if I saw any wounds, I gently put some neosporin in the ear and the scratches. If you do this, MAKE SURE YOU WRAP THE CAT IN A TOWEL!! HE COULD DEMOLISH YOU FOR MESSING WITH HIS EARS!! Hope that this will help you.

There's no way to diagnose for certain but it certainly sounds like one of the cats has mites; mites are common in kittens, especially if they come from outside. Because cats tend to 'share' mites, especially if they have close contact, both should be treated. Any kitten older than 6-8 weeks can be safely treated with either OTC or Rx ear mite treatment, but you might want to have your vet do it just to be sure. Ear mites do not attack people.

It's most likely ear mites. They don't affect humans.

Get some ear mite medicine from your vet. Do not use stuff you can buy at a pet store or a grocery store, and don't pour anything like hydrogen peroxide or baby oil or anything else into the kitten's ear. There are very delicate structures inside the ear and you can do real, lasting, harm that way.

You can put a little baby oil on a soft cloth or tissue and clean the gunk off the visible part of the ear.

Sounds like ear mites to me. If she'll let you, take a cotton ball and dampen it. Get as much of that stuff out of her ears as you can. Then, drop a couple of drops of mineral oil in each ear, and rub it together. This will suffocate the mites, then clean them again the next day, to get rid of the oil. If you have any of the "flush stuff", you can use that, instead. But, it'll work better if you've already gotten the available "gunk" out, before using it. If you think your kitten will bite you, wrap her in a towel, and try to keep her calm. Good luck........

Sounds like ear mites to me. The older kitten doesn't have them YET. It's very contagious and it's just a matter of time.

The flush stuff isn't as effective as ear mite medicine from a vet. Treat both cats.

Humans won't get ear mites from their pets. They don't like our taste, and our immune system won't allow it.

I would try to just clean out the ears with a q-tip very gently. Don't go too deep. If the dirty crap comes back, get the stuff to kill mites. My kitten had dirty ears and it wasn't mites. But my older cat had them. I went to a local pet store and got some stuff.
