theres alot of blood in my kittens poop, as soon as the vet opens in the morning, hes going straight there, and i checked and cant find any 24/7 emergency places around, or id take him right now.
over the last couple days he's had diarea(idk how to spell that)
i thought it was just him adjusting to the formula, anyways i went in to feed him and get him cleaned up, when i went to wipe him there was blood around his butt, so i cleaned him up and got him to eat a little, when i put him down he started going poop so i picked him up, to put him in his carrier till he was done, but when i picked him up i noticed a big drop of blood,so i looked and it was like watery blood coming out, more blood then anything though, so i cleaned him up, but until i can get him in to the vet i need some advice. on how to keep him more comfortable, and if theres any thing i can do to ease any pain he might be feeling. so any helpful suggestions would really help right now

There is nothing you can do, since the kitten is still drinking only milk. Otherwise you would change his diet, etc. I know it looks horrifying, but it has happened to me, and finally it was not serious (my kitten needed deworming and a diet with chicken, becaiuse he had gastrointestinal disorders). However, your kitten is much smaller, and there are some serious diseases with these symptoms, such as panleucopenia. Make sure he does eat, so that he doesn't get dehydrated. The vet may need to put an IV under the skin, or give medication. But deworming is recommended (Pyrantel pamoate paste), I think it is the most likely thing to be wrong among the non-so dangerous stuff. Good luck.

From my understanding, you should not give straight water. Flavorless pedialyte is preferred for keeping the kitten hydrated. Blood in the stools could indicate a parasitic coccidia infection (which is treatable with medication from your vet) or even panleukepenia (feline distemper, which is more serious). However, if your kitten is showing no other symptoms, It may be parasites such as coccidia or roundworms, or it could be diet related.

You said you thought your kitten was just "adjusting to the formula" - is it safe to assume that this kitten was eating something else previously (perhaps feline milk)? If that is the case and there has been an abrupt change to kitten formula, that can cause digestive problems. My kitten, who was abandonded by her mom at birth, had a really bad time with KMR. Last week, I switched her to a home made goats milk based formula and she *for the first time ever!* is not have constipation OR diarrhea!!! I got the recipe from the yahoo orphan kittens rescue group http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/orphankittens/ I highly recommend you join the group - there are over 600 kitten rescuers able to offer advice and support. I got the recipe for "kitten glop" there. All of the ingedients can be bought at a local whole foods type store, and in the long run, I think it's cheaper than KMR. My kitten is thriving on it! Here it is:

Kitten Glop

You will need the following supplies to make this:
Unflavoured Knox Gelatin
Eggs
Plain Yogurt
Mayonnaise (not low fat)
Light Karo Syrup (light meaning in color-not the dark Karo syrup)
Evaporated Goat Milk (next to regular canned milk in grocery store)
Canned pumpkin
Taurine capsules (from health food store)

Okay let's start:

2 pkts of Knox Gelatin
2 cups boiling water
Mix together and set aside

Mix together (whisk after each addition):

4 eggs (yolks only)
4 Tblspoons Plain Yogurt
2 Tblspoons Mayonnaise
2 tsp light Karo Syrup
1 can (12 oz) evaporated goat milk
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
2 Taurine capsules (open capsules and pour powder into milk mix)

After mixing add the Knox Gelatin you had set aside.

This will keep in your refrigerator for 7 days....don't panic when you open the refrigerator and find you have gelatin milk...because that is what happens to it. I take what I need out, warm back to its liquid state in the microwave and serve to the babies. They love it. I
have had no diarrhea, refusal to drink formula or other side effects from this.

For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays. Two cubes fill a 2 oz kitten bottle.

I'm glad you're taking the little one to the vet to rule out anything serious. But, if the vet fails to find anything wrong, you might consider trying the glop.
Best of luck!

I would suggest you keep feeding him as normal. See the vet asap. the person who sed if the blood is bright red it means it is coming from the back half of his body. If it is dark red it means it is coming from the front half of his body. Thats not true.. lol. Because obviously the kitten has internal bleeding, blood from anywhere in the body can be mixed with a number of things like poop, urine, stomach acids, etc, all of which would change the consistency of the blood, therfore changing the color.
I would continue to feed him as you normally would and just leave him be in a nice quiet room, maybe leave some toys for him incase he decides he's well enough to play.

Find an emergency after hours vet NOW! The cat is too young to be away from the mother. Call your local rescue shelter and report this immediately. They will investigate, the rest of the cats will need medical attention too, don't let them suffer. The pet store is the worst place to adopt an animal. Always go to a rescue shelter. Do your research. Pet stores get their animals, all different kinds of animals from companies that mass produce them in factory like settings. They are treated as monetary commodities. These animals don't get proper medical attention and are often inbred with serious medical problems and disease. Do you research!!! And Research all you local pet stores and see which ones are humane even to buy food and toys. You don't want to support the cruelty of these animals by paying money to a company that supports animals cruelty like petsmart of petco. Call your local animal rescue shelter and they will advise you where to go. Anyways call your local animals rescue and report this pet store now so they get the help they need. The pet store you bought this kitten from should be responsible for all medical bills.

Do not feed him. Give him enough water to make it till the morn and see the vet asap if the blood is bright red it means it is coming from the back half of his body. If it is dark red it means it is coming from the front half of his body. You an use neosporin like creme on his bootie topical only though.
