My normally lively and hungry kitten has within two days become thinner and is refusing food. All she does now is sleeps and has a very sickly look to her eyes and coat. I'm scared she may not make it through the night in order to get to a vet. Can this happen to kittens that are 8 weeks old?

My cat always tucks her paws underneath her all the time. And bends them all funky ways. Does anyone else's cat do that?

Just curious
Thanks!

my cat has fleas on his face, I used frontline, and it got rid of the fleas on the rest of his body, but they seemed to have migrated to his face. is there anything else i can do to help my poor kitty? aside from the obvious, taking him to a vet.

I lost my beautiful cat that I had for three years, she was spayed, and very well taken care of. I live in a rural area with lot's of woods. I have done everything to look for her, including using pet detectives and search dogs, running ads in the local papers and blanketing my area with posters. I have heard that people have lost cats that eventually come back to them, I just wanted others stories to read while I am feeling miserable.

My cats have always been into people food [and none have been over weight, and in very good health,] and I was wondering if there was any people food that cats cannot eat at all? I know dogs can't have chocolate, or anything too acidic, but what about cats? Thanks.

I discovered that my kittens (6mths old) had fleas two weeks ago. I used Frontline plus on them and combed out any dead fleas, dirt, etc. They seem to be content and are not scratching like before. I cleaned my enitre house and used some carpet powder that "kills fleas and eggs". I did this for a few days, but stopped bc I did not see any more. I THOUGHT they were gone. Long behold...last night i foung three on me. Question: Can they still be biting the cats?? (FYI Im having an exterminator come tomorrow)

My longhair cat has some really bad mats on her, and she really gets irate when being groomed. Is there anyway I can calm her down ( not with drugs) or make her enjoy grooming more?

On labor day, I was welcomed with 5 newborn kittens in my TV cabinet, much to my surprise. It's been around 4 days and two hours ago I noticed that one of the kittens has a swollen, red eye. They have not opened their eyes yet, so I'm not sure if my vet (whom, by the way, is a new doctor for my pets and I) can prescribe eye drops for his unopened eye. I've scheduled an appointment with the vet tomorrow, but I'm very worried. I have found no help on the internet yet; could anyone provide me with some information?

Is this possibly an eye infection? Are newborn kittens commonly affected with such a thing? Should my kitten be okay with such a massive, swollen eye until tomorrow afternoon? Is it anything to really worry about?

I'm very anxious, and this will be plaguing me throughout the day until I can get him/her to the vet. :(

Edit: Someone suggested one of it's brothers or sisters might have scratched in the eye! Will this cause any permanent damage?

What should I be looking for on the ingredients list? If cereal is the first ingredient, is this a bad cat food? How high should the percentage of meat be to make it a quality food? I am currently feeding my cat a brand of food that has 26% meat, but cereal is the first ingredient, which I've heard can be bad for the cat. I am talking about dry food, by the way.

Thanks to anyone who can help :-)

My grandparents are coming to stay with us for a week and they are bringing they're two dogs (a dauchsand and a shitzu). I have a cat. My cat has stayed at their house many times and completley comfertable there. He has a very civil relationship with the dogs, and even sort of likes them. One of the dogs though (the dauchsand) always trys to play with Jaggers when they first meet up again and is very hyper at first. Sometimes the dog chases him, but only in fun, he never hurts him. Jaggers usually just runs somewhere where Pudd can't get him. So I'd just like to know if anyone has any advice for the dogs coming on to kitty's turf. Any tips?

Almost 2 weeks ago, I got a 2 year old cat from a female co-worker. Since I got the cat she doesn't seem to wanna be around anyone in my house or my other 9 month old female cat. She cries at night and hides in the kitchen cabinets during the daytime. She only comes out at night when everyone is asleep. I know that she has to get use to her new environment but is there anything that I can do to speed this process up? I have spread her old toys around the house and given her food that she normally eats. It just seems as though she doesn't wanna be around us. She's very scary! When I try taking her out of the cabinet, she cries and runs right back in. Is there anything I can do to comfort her and help her transition into her new home?

no health problems
has claws
*had been kept in glass cage for a year by a breeder*; no info about year 1.
no other changes.
just swipes out if she gets the slight bit irritated (eg if you have to move her, etc.).
2 yr old. we got her a couple of months ago.
was sweet when we first brought her home, but is gradually turning into a quick tempered little jerk.
spayed. was better at first but declined again.
we've ordered 'softpaws' and are awaiting arrival. but wonder if she will bite after that.

Everymorning when i wake up walk out my room and my cat is right there, i pet him them hurry to the bathroom, i never ectually close the door all the way, so my cat gets up and paws the door the door opens and he stats purring loud and bumping against me, i pet him and smile because he looks happy, but yea i just want to know why he does this. Oh he also paws at my bedroom door when close and then when i get up to open it he runs right down the stairs half way till i stop walking towards him. I just shrug it off but then he does this a few more tyms but i suspect that its a game 2 him.

My cat had a littler of five about two weeks ago (or maybe more). Now, all five kittens' eyes are open, they are walking and all look healthy. But about an hour ago I was with them in the barn and looking at their paws. Something didn't seem right. So after looking at the Unlce and mother of the kittens' paws I realized all of the kittens had five or six toes on each foot and the uncle and mother only had four and a dew claw. So how many toes does a typical barn cat have on each paw (not counting the dew claw) and what would've cause the extra toe? Or is it just a freak thing?
Also, does anyone know how many toes a 'mitten toed cat' has? Thanks Alot!

My cat is 3 years old now.I'm just wondering how long he'll live for.I heard that feeding cats too much canned food can shorten their life so i feed him canned food once a week and dried food any other day.

I've just noticed this relatively recently. If my cat is around and somebody is whistling to themselves, he seems to get really annoyed/excited by it. He'll start meowing a lot which is kind of unusual since he isn't overly vocal most of the time, and goes over to whoever is doing it.

Is this something that is common to all cats in general? Does their hearing have a sensitivity to more high frequency pitches?

Thank you.

She doesn't cover up her stuff in the litterbox. She THINKS she does, cause she bangs her paws on the side several times...but when she hops out, it's not covered at all. And it's strong enough that the smell fills the room if it's not covered soon after she goes. So I have to go behind her and scoop some litter over it and spray some air freshener. What can I do to teach her? Or can she be taught?

I have a five week old kitten who was rescued from a very young boy who was going to keep her in his care. We commandeered the kitten. So now we have her and she has ringworm from her little nose to her little toes. Her belly hair has fallen out and she has bald spots on her back and sides. I am not posting this to get people to react in a sick way and tell me to put her to sleep etc, I am however posting this to ask those of you who are sane and have a good mind and heart about you to aid me in this journey to cure this little beauty of her ails. I have taken her to the vet and they have given her lime sulphur dip, medication shampoo, and glucofluvin(spelling). They did not however provide any answers as to how often I can bathe and how long to leave the shampoo on etc. I went to look up these products and most are toxic to kittens that young. I'm not asking for ideas from people I am asking for your experience and facts only please. All good people are welcome to answer. Tiahui !
