If not long ones, maybe just short jaunts around town? I ask because I have thought about it and coming home from vacation this past weekend i saw a few cars on the road that had sleeping cats that were loose in the car & thought to give it a try.

I wasn't planning on taking him on vacation, just wanted to see what he might do during a car ride.

If you are going to do it you should invest in a harness for your cat. It would be heartbreaking should you open the door and it runs out and something happens. I would recommend the crate especially because then you won't have to worry about it getting underfoot while you are driving, but a harness might work.

My cats hate crates, so when I take them to the vet, I put them on a leash instead. You have to be careful, sometimes they try to get under the pedals. Have a passenger with you to help the first few times.
Some cats love car rides, some cats hate them. My cats hate leaving the house, but I've had cats in the past that were so laid back that you could carry them around everywhere. It all depends on your cat's personality, and you won't know what kind of cat you have till you give it a shot. I'm sure it's possible to train a cat to like accompanying you on trops as well, if it's young enough and you want to try.
I will say that some cats also get violently car sick, and that you shouldn't try to car train a cat that does get motion sickness. Also, if this is the case, you'll want to crate the cat anyway, because you don't want to clean that out of your upholstry.

Try it some cats like riding in cars. Some cats don't like riding in cars.
Had one cat that would run over you getting in the car everytime you opened the car door he liked riding some much.
That is except when we were going to take him to the VET. then the fight was on to get him in the car. Never could figure that one out but some how he always knew. But any other time he loved riding in cars.

It's a bad idea. I always travel with my cats in a carrier. I seat belt the carrier in. They are in the back seat.
It's dangerous for a cat to be loose in a car. It's stupid and shows ignorance.
I see people driving around with their dogs in their laps or hanging out the window. I think what losers. They are really stupid and don't even realize how selfish they are being. They could inadvertently cause an accident.

I even have travelled with cats that have been the two secured interior a service or loose contained in the motor vehicle, and that i've got had to bypass away them contained in the motor vehicle. They have been large, and yours would be too. As you pronounced, you're unlikely to be subjecting her to severe temperatures in the time of March. Do be conscious, nonetheless, that vibrant solar even on a funky day will at as quickly as heat up the interior of your motor vehicle; while you're parked contained in the solar, ensure which you do crack the residing house windows somewhat.

you really need to start it young, just like if you want to be able to brush its teeth, walk it on a leash and give it baths.
i had (rip) a cat that went everywhere with me - he was the only one at the tiem and i would take him with me on short jaunts around town when he was little just so he wouldn't be afraid of the car. he got to where he would run to the door if he heard me getting my keys and wait for me. on the occasions that i couldn't take him, such as during hot or cold weather or going to be gone too long, he would sit by the door and meow. i could hear him as i was leaving and also upon my return.
he was the coolest cat ever - when i'd take him to the vet, he'd just lay on the chair next to me and wait his turn. big dogs would walk up to him and sniff him and he'd just look at them like "what do you want?"
i miss him

I let my cats out of the crate on long trips as long as I have another person with me. They are usually well behaved and sleep in the back seat... but sometimes one of my cats thinks shes a dog and tries to stick her head out the window... even thou the window is up. She also likes to crawl all over me.. so I have to get my fiance to keep her under control. Just be careful if you let them out of the crates. You don't want them crawling under your car seat!

I wouldn't. It throws cats off when you move them from one place to another. A lot of cats get lost on vacation.

I try to get my kittens used to the car so that they are not dramatized during any car trip.
