Has anyone else had this problem? We had our cat fixed before he was 6 months old.

He is now 2 years old. He just recently started wanting to go out at night and chase the female cats. He is getting into fights and is mating. What is the deal?

Check with the vet to pull the old records and see if they were able to get both testicles. Sometimes one isn't 'descended' and they can't get to it. Also, ask if they snipped and left the actual testicle in or if they took OUT both physically. Some vets just snip the tubes and leave everything in. Sometimes, very rarely, the tube can reconnect and you have a cat who is still fertile.

They do not know they are fixed and it is just instinct that they go out and try to mate. I would suggest that you keep your cat inside because they can become very aggressive if they decide that they want to mate and it is not fair to the other cats nor your cat to be getting into fights. Also, besides the fighting there are many other dangers that he could get into.

I think you had better keep him inside at night to protect him.Cats are viscious when mating and it is there instinct to fight for the female. It's a heirarchy thing.Take him to the vet first thing because if you continue to let him out chances are he'll get tore up. CATS GET ABCESSES FROM BITES=MONEY,TIME AT VET. Been there, been broke.Take care of your fine feline.

He may have gone through puberty before he was neutered or the vet might have missed something. Or, he could just be bored.

take him back to the vet's office where you had it done. Ask firmly for an answer. Just as with any doctor, or professional, they are responsible for their work.
