I was wondering what should I do if my kitten/cat gets into a bad situation So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I should do if one of these happens: My cat starts to choke, my cat gets sick, and if my cat gets into a cat fight how should I break it up and what do I do if he's bleeding badly?

I know that none of this is very likely to happen but I was just wondering what I should do because if one of these happens I don't want to be caught off guard so someone give any advice you have. Thank you in advance!

To set up the scenario: A new neighbor moved in to her mothers house the next street over. My cat wanders outside and the woman saw her and took my cat as soon as she saw her. She made no attempt to find us. We were contacted as soon as we offered a reward on some signs. She has been taking her and locking her in their basement ever since- we only get her back when we interrogate her. She says she doesn't have her but when we threaten to call the police the cat miraculously turns up five minutes after we leave. I would call the police but by the time they got the warrent to search the house they will probably sneak her out the back door. What should we do??

Last night put for the first time ever over the counter flea drops on my cat which apparently poisoned her. I took her to the animal emergency hospital first thing this morning because she is lethargic and breathing shallow and fast and low temperature and he gave her a shot of cortisone and some kind of charcoal to absorb some of it out of her system. He said now we can just let it run its course and wait but that was this morning and she hasnt improved at all today and I've been by her side all day and I feel like I'm just watching her on her deathbed I am so torn up just watching her suffer isnt there anything else I can do for her???

Recently, a cat has been coming near my home. The cat goes in my yard and it meows to me. I gave it food, but he barely ate any. He's very friendly. Should I keep him? I'm not sure if he's a homeless cat or not.

My seemly healthy, normal in all ways, 11yr old cat suddenly began sneezing and stopped eating. Thinking it was just a cold, I let it pass for 2 days and then went to the vet.
He took blood work. He felt no masses in Willy's abdomen, no yellowing of eyes, no fever. The blood work showed a super high elevation of ALT ( enzymes leaking from liver into the blood) Norm range is 20-100. Willy's is 1497. He has had my cat over the weekend with supplements given via IV, plus anitibiotics. He still will not eat on his own. The vet feels this is Cholangiohepatitis. He said it's possible with the meds given, Willy will survive. But it seems to me the count of 1497 is off the chart from the 20-100 norm. Am I foolish to think there is any hope for my cat to survive this? The vet said tomorrow if he hasn't improved....well, it breaks my heart, but he will have to be put down. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area???

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting and different opinions regarding feeding them human food.
In addition I give them (natural) dry food and Meow Mix envelopes but they love the eggs most of all.

What do you think should happen to the 2 cruel, heartless girls who almost burned the little kitten Adam to death then laughed while he burned? I am not an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, vengeful sort of person, but still I don't think 3 years is enough because they were more than old enough to know better and laughed while they tortured the poor little thing does anyone else agree?

Whenever my cat meows someone else in the family will meow back to it and the cat will meow as if he's replying and they'll do this for a couple of minutes... why does the cat do this? (don't ask why my family meows... they're just very weird/cool people)

My adult female cat weighs 12 lbs. The vet said she should be eight to 10. I feed her high quality food - Innova Evo Dry, which is 51% protein.

I started feeding her this brand five months ago. She was still a growing kitten, eating the recommended portions. Now she's over a year old and has a belly. Two months ago I cut back the suggested portion for a 12-lb. cat to a 10-lb cat. She was still overweight, and a month ago I began feeding her the suggested amount for an 8-lb. cat.

She does get exercise. I have her chase strings for half an hour at night. She plays with my dog. And of course, she goes nuts and chases shadows for a few minutes, like every nocturnal cat.

Can cats get fat from eating high-quality, high-protein foods? Also, she is spayed, and I've been told spayed cats tend to gain more weight than intact cats.

I don't want to cut back on her food anymore than I already have. She's healthy otherwise; she just needs to trim down.

Any ideas or tips? Much appreciated.

I just got a male kitten and female kitten a few days ago. The lady that I got them from said that the were both litter box trained. They are about 3 months. The male goes fine in the litter box. However, the female will not have a bowel movement in the box. The box is in the bathroom and I'm always finding her feces in the bathroom near the box. SHould I get seperate litter boxes? I think she urinates in the box because I'm not finding any where in the house. Help me please. I need a quick fix!!!!!!!!!

I bought a little kitten from this woman who claimed that the kitten was complete on vaccinations and was neutered. When I went to pick him up, she said she couldn't find records of his shots and that she would call me when she found it. She hasn't called yet, and is not answering her cell phone. I even asked her to give me the number to the vet she took him to so I can get the records myself.
I can see that the kitten is neutered, however, I am bringing him to get checked out at the local vet, and I don't have records of his shots. Will the vet vaccinate him again? Is that safe for the kitten.
He is the runt of the litter and is very tiny for his age, 14 weeks
(looks like 4-5 weeks)
I wish the woman would have some compassion for the kitten and be honest and get back to me. I would never give him back to her, not after the irresponsible way she is behaving.

I posted a question a while ago asking advice on how to care for a cat that had an infected wound on his lower jaw. I very directly stated i could not afford to take this cat to a vet, yet many people scorned me on not doing so. I thank the people that gave me advice, and to the people that did not, I'd like to inform you that my cat is in full health. Sometimes you can't afford a thousand dollar vet bill on top of rent and bills, and I'm not going to live in car for this cat. Some said I obviously had interent and a computer, but for the record, my building gives free wi-fi and the comp is a gift. I'm between jobs and waiting for 3 dif calls right now. Paying my way through college. Spent months finding an apartment that was pet friendly. You are just prude. I would like to hear from others that had the same problem with the answers some have given.
My cat is fine, by the way, thanks to a $5 tube of neosporin and good food. I give him more love than money, sorry you cant get that.

My 11 yr old cat ( willy) was fine, healthy, normal in every way when I left town for 3 days. I had someone come in to take care of him and my dog. When I returned, Willy was sneezing and not eating. I thought he had a cold and left it at that for 2 days. When still not eating and not at all himself, I took him to vet. He has no fever, no jaundice. They took blood work and most is in the norm range except for the ALT ( an enzyme that leaks out of the liver into the blood) The norm range is 20-100, Willy's is 1497. The vet feels he has a type of hepititis and has been at the vet for 3 days with IV and antibiotics. Still , as of Sat. am, would not eat on his own. Vet says if by Monday he doesn't show improvement, he most likely has cancer vs hepititis. Has anyone known of liver damage being reversed? I am so upset about this...He was fine when I left and when I returned, my cat I have known and loved for 11 yr. was gone. I am just looking for a ray of hope for my cat to recover.

I had a cat when I was younger, and I remember that he loved the occasional cat nip. I was pretty young so I don't remember how my parents gave it to him. I am getting a kitten on Wednesday, and I bought all of the basic supplies today. How do you give a cat cat nip? Do you put it in a toy, or just let them eat it? TYIA!

I have a 5 year old female cat that was spayed at 6 months...she's a housecat and rarely goes outside....not a particularly social cat....about 4 weeks ago we picked up a stray female and although there was some initial hissing and growling, they eventually began playing...well this new cat turned out to be pregnant and just gave birth last week (7 days ago) to 5 kittens...the problem is that kittens were going missing, and it turns out that whenever Momcat gets out of her box, my older cat starts grabbing kittens and running....she doesn't hurt them...she washes and snuggles them...but this is leading to all kinds of trouble with Momcat...my vet says to keep them apart, which is easier said then done...I'm truly afraid of what will happen when they open their eyes and start walking....anyone else had this kind of problem? I swear these cats are keeping me up all night with this nabbing and fighting and growling...I actually found a kitten hidden in my shoe!
