My cat has cystals in his urinary tract and is taking 'Hill's Prescription Diet S/D' cat food for treatment. (FYI That cat food is low in phosphorus and magnesium.) I was wondering if there was another type that would be a good alternative. Maybe Hill's Science Diet?
I am not satisfied with the vet I had been taking him to, and will be changing vets, so I'd rather not ask them (which is where I got the food from.) I was wondering if any vets/vet techs. have any opinions about that food, or an alternative suggestion...
Thank you!

I have 2 kittens who are sisters and we got them at the same time from someone giving them away. However, one of them chews on a stuffed animal I have and at the same time like claws it with her paws (like she's fluffing it or something). Was she taken from her mother too soon? We've had them since around February, so it's been awhile since they've been with their mom and only our one kitten does that. I was just wondering why and if there is anything we can do for her to make her stop? Thanks!

My husband and I rescued two baby kittens a few months ago. They were so cute and tiny. With much loving care and devotion (I'm talking 3 am bottle-feedings) they've grown into very healthy rubunctious four month old boys. The problem is we live in a studio apartment. We don't mind sharing our space with "our babies" however I am beginning to worry that they may not have enough space to grow into. Is there an amount of space that two cats need? Will they be able to live comfortably in our studio? I sure hope so. I have grown so attached to them. I couldn't bear to let them go. They are indoor cats only so far.

I am hoping a Veterinarian may see this and know the answer. FIP is short for Feline Infectious Peritonitis and it is a virus. I have found a wonderful cat at a shelter that I would like to adopt but I do not know if there is any risk of it catching this disease. My cat who died has not been in the house since July 9th. Does anyone out there know anything about this? Thank you for your help.

Since cats rely upon their tails so much to communicate their emotions and intentions, would a tailess or bobtailed cat be somewhat handicapped? I was wondering because I adopted a manx-type cat about three months ago,and the three cats that I already owned seem to be taking much longer to accept him than they did each other. He always approaches them in a friendly manner and isn't a bit pushy or aggressive, but they all reguard him with great suspicion and behave like they think he's really odd. Could it be that they can't read his body language as well?

She just started getting weepy sores on the inside of her lips. When I checked inside her mouth I noticed inflamed sores on one side of her mouth and now they are spreading to the other side. What would cause this?

We have two adult female cats and we had just brought in a kitten. The other two cats go in the litter box, but the kitten always wants to go behind our couch and love seat all of the time. How is the best way to get her to stop going there and start going in the litter box?
My wife takes her and the poo to the litter box, to show her where to go but it seems not to work very well.

I brush my cats teeth everyday but my oldest who is 4 years old has BAD teeth.

Some are perfectly fine but theres about 3 that are really bad. The skin is completely red and swollen .. and when i watch him eat, a lot of times i don't hear him chew. I hear no crunching at all.
Then, since he eats the food whole he ends up throwing up later. Poor guy.

Will he do better after he gets 1 or all 3 pulled?
Should i get all 3 pulled?

Do you know about how much it will cost me per tooth?

Thanx.

Heres a picture of 2 of the teeth that are hurting him. They are on his left side/top. The other 1 or maybe 2 are the tiny top/front teeth.

and p.s .. all of my cats are inside only and only get wet food about once a week, sometimes not even that much.

At my Grandma's house, a wild cat (affectionalty called "Cat"), has 4 kittens. 3 are orange with white striped. The other is a miniature Cat, a calico tabby mix. Anyways, the kittens are only about 6 weeks old, and Cat and one or 2 of the orange/white ones will let you pet them when they are eating. I picked one up for about 4 seconds when i was visiting. They won't try and scratch you etc. when you pick them up, they just want down.

Cat will also let you pet her if you call her. My grandfather says they'll be more social as they age, but somehow I just doubt it. What can they do?

So - there is a stray cat outside of my house (we live in the country, so there are a lot of barns nearby). This cat has been coming around for months now - and we keep ignoring it. The cat has warmed up to us starting a few weeks ago. We are not looking for a new cat - and know that we should take the cat to the vet. The cat keeps coming around, and stays around our house - should we feed it anyway? It looks like an older, wild cat. We have two cats - The tabby cat is an outdoors cat - that gets along with the stray cat and black cat we have doesn't really do anything about the stray. Our outdoor cat looks like it's started a friendship with this cat. I know it may be a barn cat from down the street, and don't want to rip it from it's home. what should we do!?

I have 4 cats. They have access to food whenever they want, but 2 of them are overweight, so i want to schedule their feedings. But, the cats do different things during the day. Some sleep, some go outside, and I think it might be hard to get them all to eat at certain times of the day. And, how would I feed them? If I feed them all at the same time, some cats might want more and eat some of anothers cat's share of the food. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

My one cat got scared by a dog (a rottweiller), who jumped up at the window (the kids who did it though it was funny, but thats besides the point), she then attacked me (and drew blood in several places from my legs) and my other cat (who happens to be her mum), and now the other cat is absolutely terrified and refuses to come out. I've tried feeding her and stroking her, but she just shies away. This happened this morning. Any ideas on how I can calm her down? Her daughter is still trying to get into the window and is growling and hissing- any ideas with that one?

Sensible ideas would be most welcome.

Have been adopted recently by a cute black cat. Female (I think). Been living locally for a couple of years. Think spayed as have never seen any kittens. Has a few small scabs - one to the side of the bald patch. Not seen her scratching at it, or trying to lick it. Have used a spot on de-wormer and can't find any fleas. I know nothing about cats. No signs of skin complaints - just the odd little scab. Am assuming that as an outdoor cat, these are not unusual. Is it something to worry about?

There is a patch on my cat's back where the hair is kinda standing up and hard. It's also a bit bald. It's been there for a few months now and not going away. At first I thought it was something messed on her, but obviously it is something else. She doesn't like you touching it.
What could it be?
