These anal abscesses are very difficult to treat, very painful, and have a devastating effect on the cat's quality of life.

You have been to two vets and have gone to great lengths to save the cat, but I think the advice you have received from the vets is correct -- the responsible and loving thing to do is to put her to sleep and end her suffering.

The location of the abscess is unusual...I would suspect that the underlying cause is cancer, which would be inoperable and hopeless.

I've had cats recover from things I didn't think they could (internal abscess, pancreatitis, shattered hip from a car strike) so I wouldn't count the cat out yet, but you do have to listen to the vets and make your own decision on this.

I'd give the cat the best care I could, and the benefit of the doubt about an injury, and wait a bit longer. Especially if she's eating and drinking on her own yet.

Hudson's internal abscess had gotten 3x2" large inside and would not come to the surface, he had to have it surgically taken out, and he sprang back from that whenI didn't think he would. Cats have amazing abilities to heal.

Ask the vet if the tail can be wrapped instead of stitched, that may allowfor better healing. The bowel will be another story, but if you have a cat specialist as the vet, they'd be able to at least give you some options. Sometimes just giving the cat a few extra days can make a difference.

As owners and lovers of cats, we have two obligations. One is very easy. To give them the love and care they need. The second is the hardest, and that is when the quality of their life is gone, to give them release. Hopefully, it will heal. But if it doesn't, then you are faced with the second obligation. And that is the hardest thing you will likely every face. And her being only two is even harder.

I really feel sorry, and give you my sympathy.

it is hard when a pet gets sick as they are part of the family but sometimes we have to be cruelto be kind its sounds like she is suffering and that cant be good for any of you so i would say it is kinder to get her put to sleep, arrange it with the vet and explain to you daughter that she is very ill and it would be better if she went to heaven let your daughter say her goodbyes to her and maybe you could have some sort of plaque in her memory that way if your daughter gets sad you could put flowers in the garden or something good luck it will be hard but think of the suffering for your kitty.
