My one cat got scared by a dog (a rottweiller), who jumped up at the window (the kids who did it though it was funny, but thats besides the point), she then attacked me (and drew blood in several places from my legs) and my other cat (who happens to be her mum), and now the other cat is absolutely terrified and refuses to come out. I've tried feeding her and stroking her, but she just shies away. This happened this morning. Any ideas on how I can calm her down? Her daughter is still trying to get into the window and is growling and hissing- any ideas with that one?
Sensible ideas would be most welcome.

Don't worry, your younger cat will calm down, and your older cat will come out of hiding.
Your younger cat didn't mean to hurt you or her mommy - cats often displace their aggression when they are scared! They will lash out at the nearest thing to them because they feel threatened.
If you can open the door and let your younger cat back in, this might help. She's probably terrified out there as she thinks the dog is still around! Hence the hissing and growling!
Let mommy cat come out in her own time. Talk to her gently, put a few cat treats down for her and then leave her to it. If she still hasn't come out after an hour, go in and talk to her soothingly again. Don't force her - she can't and won't stay there forever.
Don't worry - it will all be forgotten about in a few hours!

Talk to the kids who did that. Don't scream at them but be firm in telling them that they shouldn't do that because it scares your cats. If they still don't get it then go to their parents or the police about it.
My cats get freaked by dogs but have never done that before. Your cat will probably be afraid for a while. Just talk calmly to it and keep encouraging it to come out & play by maybe dangling a string with a toy at the end of it. Throw catnip mice around. Rub some catnip in a scratcher and put it near your cats. Just try to remain calm during this. They are majorly stressed out now.
Good luck!

You should close the window and then just let the cats calm down, it may take a while but the best thing you can do is leave them alone and let them calm themselves down.
And I agree you should talk to the kids parents or have your parents do it if you are still young.

Oh don't worry... shut the window draw the blinds.. and stand on your front porch with some whoop *** for those kids! Just leave the kitties alone... they get stuck in the fight mode and need to calm down... give them a couple hours and then feed them some canned cat food... I have had this happen and my kitties needed me to stay away TOTALLY! Just leave them alone and in a few hours they will be fine....

Time heals all wounds. Cats are naturally frightened by dogs and often will react poorly to the introduction, especially if it was done in such a violent manner. She'll get over it and return to her old self in a day or so, for now just keep things calm & quiet in the house to allow her to decompress from the incident.

Give it time and let them alone. They'll eventually calm down. It might even take a few days. Don't worry, cat's are very resilient. She attacked you because her nerves were on threat mode. She associated any contact with an attack. She didn't even realize it was you at the time I'm sure.

Take and give the cat (the mum) Rescue Remedy, and take a TT injection for yourself and get one administered to the mum cat by the vet. Rescue Remedy will remove the trauma. When the little cat calms down, give that too a few drops of Rescue Remedy since what it did is in a state of extreme terror when its natural instincts get totally sidelined.

Does she like the cat box or going in boxes?
If she does, put a towel or rug in there and leave it near her, in a quiet corner, hopefully she'll go in there and calm down after a while.
Just let her be quiet, don't keep going to her, leave her alone to calm down and she should be fine soon.
I don't have any ideas about the other oe though, sorry.
Good luck with them!

Leave the cat alone and she'll come back out when she's ready, anything you do will just result in upsetting her more and her scratching you again. Once she's calmed down she'll come back out...
Hope that helps
