I have a very sick cat that is at the vets office and has an IV and a catheter. My vet said that she has the late stages of hepatic lipidosis. It is a condition of the liver. If they are able to get her to start eatting(she went missing for a little while and was home for a week and wasn't eatting) I really have no idea how long she has gone with out eatting. The treatment just to get her to the position where she MAY start eatting will run my family ove $500. I am about to give birth to our second child in a few weeks. I know that the treatment that I will have to do if she starts eatting I will not be abel to keep up with. (I know that I will have a hard time keeping up with a 2year old and a newborn, and to add tube feeding a cat to the mix I really don't know if it is something that I can handle) My cat is my first child but I also have to think about the type of life that she has now. Precious is over 10 years old. I beleave that I am gonna have to put her down. Would you?

There was another lady who's business was wrecked and she went home to find that her two kittys had drowned and you could see how distraught she was, I would be too, I dont know what I would do with out my cats!!! What do you think?

Have you been affected by the floods too?

When I get the 9 lives cat food, as soon as they hear me use the can opener they lose their minds. They claw at my legs, meow alot. When I go get the bowl and fork [I use the fork to mush it all together] they climb up on the counter and start going to the bowls and trying to eat it, I put them down all the time and when I raise my head after putting the other one down the other is up there. When I give them the food they only lick the gravy, then take it out of the bowl and put it on the floor and eats it. I'm going to list my question
1. why does my cat lick the gravy?
2. why does it take it out of the bowl and eat it?
3.why are they so alert when the hear the can opener?
4. how do I stop them from going crazy on my legs when I open it?
I'm sorry for all the questions but I know its only instinct but I need to know how to at least stop one thing out of the 4 questions, It becomes a living hell when I go to the can opener. Please no rude answers.

She spent the first year of her life under the house of a friend. When the friend died, we caught her and her brother. The mother had ran off and the father was the neighbors cat. Two days after they were fixed, they got out of the bathroom. one went in the laundry room and she went in the sun porch. The brother fell behind the water heater and suffocated. We caught her and then we moved. Shortly after, she got outside. we caught one cat that looked like her and kept her and then caught her. At the end of May, she got out again. we caught her on July 20. She did spend her given birthday outside, July 4th. The two cats have a special bond. What can I do to keep Susie (the one who gets out) and Sally happy (the one who goes crazy when Susie is missing)?

my cat has been missing for 5 days now. My mother found a cat along side the road that she thought was it, but she said it was decomposing. alot of the skin was gone and the fur was falling off, and there were maggots. Today she showed me some of the fur when I got home, and it didn't look like my cats fur, too gray. I was wondering if it was possible for it to decay that quickly. It would have been about 3.5 days after it went missing.

so today i went to the pet store in my mall and was expecting to buy a turtle or some fish. well when i overheard a couple of men talking about buying most of the kittens to feed to their large boa constricter i ran over there and grabbed a kitten! he is very very precious and a calm little guy! i cannot belive he was going to be snake bait! i bought all of his supplies and stuff and named him Jinx. i know that pet store kittens aren't usually pure bred or anything but he is just a delight and i'm glad i bought him!

I just found out that I will cost me close to $600 to treat my cat. She has hepatic lipidosis(fatty liver) I DO NOT have that kind of money. (I am 37 weeks pregnant with my second child and not working My husband and I are living paycheck to paycheck) The treatment that he is doing may or may not work. I beleave that I will have to put he down. Not that I dont love her but I just have to think about putting food on the table. My cat is 10 years old would you say that she has lived a long life. What would you do if you were me?

I just adopted 2 kittens and my husband brought home 2 toys for them and they are with catnip. I was wondering I can just leave them lying around the house? Will it be bad for them? I have never had catnip around with my last cats. I dont even know what the purpose of catnip really is? would someone explain it better? I know what catnip is but will it harm them or not with lond exposure to these toys be ok is a concern.
