General rule of thumb is when you do one you do them all so nothing gets re-transmitted.

Worms are transmitted by ingestion. Now, cats some times eat others crap in the litter box. The cat that has worms probably got it from a mouse or rat. I'd worm them all at the end of the season; or into the season as the rodents come in when it gets cold.

Maintaining some form of worming scheduling to prevent the animal from getting worm should be practiced from the day you bring the little puppy or adult dog home. An overall worming is usually done through a vet or a public place like Petco. Keeping records with routine wormings, vaccines, health exams, bathing, spading/neutering, and toenail clippings is part of being a responsible pet owner. If you cannot do this, then you do not need the pet. By preventing adequate care from being given to your animal, you can be charged with animal abuse.

Yes they are contagious. It depends what type of worms they have as to how you treat them. My cats get tape worms quite often. They are passed through feces and cats usually get them from eating mice that have them. So if your cats are outdoor cats your need to worm them every few months. Tape worms look like pieces of wigglely rice, round worms look like pieces of white/off white string. Treat all the cats at the same time and with at least 3-4 treatments like the package says. Worms are worse in some areas and not in others so if your other cats have never had them before once the worms are gone you shouldn't have any more trouble with them. Where I lived before my, cats always had worms, I live one town away now and my cats haven't had them in three years.

If they all use the same litter box, they may all have them. A poop sample from each should be brought to the vet so they can check, but most likely all the four will need to be treated.

Make SURE you get your meds from a vet. If you treat for the wrong parasite it's very stressful on the cats.

They can very easil get it from one another. Let the vet know you have multiple cats and bring in a stool sample from each one if possible.

Give it EX LAX. When it craps out the worms, use them for fishing, Feed the cat the fish.
