There's some wrong answers here. Cats can become sexually mature between 6 and 8 months of age and at (rarely) as young as 5 months. 6 to 8 months is a common time for neutering, but they can be done earlier if it is somehow impossible to keep them sequestered from mature cats of the opposite sex.
Always spay/neuter your cats unless you can provide/obtain a responsible home for every kitten or are involved in some accredited breeding program.

Kittens have been known to become sexually mature as young as 4 in a half to 5 months. Like us cats as well as other animals mature at different ages. Despite what people say about cats having a mating season, it doesn't mean anything because cats can and alot do mate anytime during the year. Check your local classified adds in the pet section and no matter which month it is, there's someone giving away or selling kittens. Your cats will mate when SHE is ready! Nobody can tell you when.

a KITTEN should not be mating, period.
Thats like making a child get pregnant! They're body is not ready!!!
When the cat is much older maybe a about 10 months to a year old and they're in heat then it is ready (just starting to be ready)
But why do you want you kitten to mate? If you want more baby kittens you should adopt kittens from shelters they need homes and you'll be able to keep your kitten healthy and save new ones from being put to sleep after a week sometimes just a few days. Also, you can get family kittens in shelters if you want them to be brothers and sisters.

WHY would you? Kittens can't mate, first of all. They're babies. And secondly, there's far too many homeless cats and kittens for you to make more. Go visit your local animal shelter. Walk through and look and look at all the cats and kittens looking for homes. Then think about how however many kittens your cat makes, that many will die. Could you live with that on your conscience? I certainly couldn't! Please get your cat spayed or neutered - be RESPONSIBLE.

Some kittens, male and female, are fertile as young as four months of age. Spay and neuter your pets. This can be done very safely from 12 weeks old. Some clinics will do it sooner.

Get them fixed when they're about 5 months of age, later than that and they will become sexually active.
