I cat appeared outside my house, and igt let me go near it. WheneverI put my hand out it headbuts me, and when I scratch it, it closes its eyes. I feel a bit itchy now. Does it have fleas?

Your description is of a cat who likes people. Scratching it so the eyes close means it felt really good.

Fleas don't usually bite people, and I think you're probably just taking coincidence and assigning it to the cat. You'd be able to see a flea on you, they're dark brown and the size of a sesame seed.

A shower or washing up will get rid of the itchies (it IS summer after all). And be nice to the cat, he's still got a lot of trust in people.

the cat obviously likes the attention and is very happy when you pet and scratch him. he sounds like a sweet cat. u might just be associating the itchiness with the cat b/c it was a stray. but it might be that the cat has fleas. i would check him over just in case- fleas are really noticeable, dark and pretty big for a bug. i know from experience!

If this cat is outside and looks to have no owner....probably has fleas. And possibly lice and worms...among other things. Cats use their heads to "headbutt" you as their way of saying hello. That is how they greet others....just like a lion! It's probably closing his eyes because he feels comfortable around you....and human contact is something he has been longing for. I hope you have made a new life long friend...but take him to get tested for feline AIDS and heartworm!

Nothing is wrong with the cat, he just loves people, hes not heabutting you, hes showing you affection and trusts you. You're just concious of the whole flea thing and you think you have fleas so you start itching yourself, its instinct. But the cat doesnt have fles, hes just really really affectionate.

It sounds like a possible allergy to me. Next time you pet the cat, wash carefully afterwards.

It sounds like you might me allergic. Be careful!

If it was fleas you would see a small round red mark.
